Delft artists exhibit their work during the annual Spring Salon and open their studios during the Delft Atelier Route weekend. Both activities are organized by Kadmium, a platform for visual arts in Delft.

Kadmium Spring Salon 2026

A rich variety of new visual art can be found in the exhibition space of Kadmium, located on the top floor of the Prinsenkwartier at Sint Agathaplein in the historic center of Delft.

I cordially invite you to our festive opening on April 4 at 3 p.m.

My contribution to this group exhibition is the still life "Flowers in a Vase with Bumblebee," inspired by the symbolic floral paintings of 17th-century masters. A bumblebee appears in the work—a symbol of diligence and the vital, constructive power of nature. The work is part of my art project Preserved which includes recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods in art history. The materials I use in this series are exclusively recycled.

Delft Atelier Route

Would you like to visit my studio? Then come by during the weekend of April 11th and 12th. My studio doors will be open as part of the Delft Atelier Route. Kunst in Delft

Delftse kunstenaars exposeren hun werk tijdens de jaarlijkse Lentesalon en openen hun ateliers in het weekend van de Delfste Atelierroute. Beide activiteiten worden georganiseerd door Kadmium, platform voor beeldende kunst in Delft.

Kadmium Lentesalon 2026

Een rijke variatie aan nieuwe beeldende kunst is te vinden in de expositieruimte van Kadmium, gevestigd op de bovenverdieping van het Prinsenkwartier aan het Sint Agathaplein in het historische centrum van Delft.

Hierbij nodig ik je van harte uit op onze feestelijke opening op 4 april om 15.00 uur

Mijn bijdrage aan deze groepsexpositie is stilleven 'Flowers in a Vase with Bumblebee', geïnspireerd op bloemenschilderijen vol symboliek van 17de-eeuwse meesters. In het werk verschijnt een hommel – symbool voor ijver en de vitale opbouwende kracht van de natuur. Het werk is onderdeel van mijn kunstproject Preserved , die recreaties omvat van bloemstillevens uit diverse stijlperiodes in de kunstgeschiedenis. New work in a historical setting

Spring Salon 2026 Pulchri Studio

In all rooms of the beautiful monumental building on Lange Voorhout in The Hague, the artists of Pulchri Studiio present a wide range of recent work. I cordially invite you to the opening of this Spring Salon on Saturday, March 7th, from 5:00 PM.

I am exhibiting a new floral still life, Delicate Gesture , inspired by a work by Jan Sluijters, painted around 1918. It dates from his more expressionist period with its powerful, dark colors. In the composition, an arum lily and a leaf approach each other, reaching out from their respective vases in an almost tender gesture. This motif formed the basis for my still life. The discovery of a slightly lopsided, tall green vase in a thrift store offered me the opportunity to create my own interpretation of Sluijters' work.

Delicate Gesture is part of my growing project Preserved consisting of recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods in art. The material consists entirely of artificial flowers, vases, and props from thrift stores.

Nieuw werk in een historisch decor!

Voorjaarssalon 2026 Pulchri Studio

In alle zalen van het prachtige monumentale pand aan het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag presenteren de kunstenaars van Pulchri Studiio een breed scala aan recent werk. Ik nodig je van harte uit voor de opening van deze Voorjaarssalon op zaterdag 7 maart vanaf 17.00 uur.

Ik exposeer een nieuw bloemstilleven Delicate Gesture , dat geïnspireerd is op een werk van Jan Sluijters, dat hij omstreeks 1918 schilderde. Het stamt uit zijn meer expressionistische periode met krachtige donkere kleuren. In de compositie naderen een aronskelk en een blad elkaar, reikhalzend vanuit hun eigen vazen, in een bijna teder gebaar. Dit motief vormde de basis voor mijn stilleven. De vondst van een enigszins scheefstaande hoge groene vaas in de kringloopwinkel bood me de mogelijkheid om een eigen interpretatie van Sluijters’ werk te maken.

Delicate Gesture maakt deel uit van mijn groeiende project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uitsluitend uit artificiële bloemen, vazen en rekwisieten afkomstig uit kringloopwinkels. Het werk is tevens te koop in de webshop van Pulchri Studio

Ume-mi 梅見

New floral still life!

The poetic term for admiring plum blossoms in Japan is Ume-mi (梅見). This tradition offers hope as winter gradually gives way to early spring. Plum blossom (Ume) symbolizes perseverance, resilience, and renewal. This famous poem by Izumi Shikibu touches on the subtle similarity between blossom petals and snowflakes:

I snapped a branch,

certain the plums were in bloom.

Only to realize the snow was posing as petals.

My new floral still life, Ume-mi — part of the art project Preserved — will be available for purchase at Pulchri Studio in the "Small Format" exhibition from February 17th on. Works in this exhibition measure a maximum of 30 x 30 cm and are surprisingly affordable. They can be taken home immediately after purchase. Nieuw bloemstilleven!

De poëtische benaming voor het bewonderen van de pruimenbloesem in Japan is Ume-mi 梅見. Deze traditie geeft hoop in de periode waar de winter bijna plaats maakt voor de vroege lente. Pruimenbloesem (Ume) staat symbool voor volharding, veerkracht en vernieuwing. Dit beroemde gedicht van Izumi Shikibu raakt aan de subtiele gelijkenis tussen bloesemblaadjes en sneeuwvlokken:

This winter, I'm participating with a flower still life "Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly" (30 x 30 cm). For this piece, I drew inspiration from a painting by Balthasar van der Ast. Its effective simplicity appealed to me: a small vase with one single, graceful tulip.

The new exhibition year at the Haagse Kunstkring artists' association kicks off on Saturday, January 10th at 4:00 PM. Under the title ' New' an exhibition will open featuring a wide selection of recent work by 106 artists. The exhibition will be on display in all exhibition spaces of our building on the lively Denneweg in The Hague.

I'm exhibiting a floral still life inspired by the work of 17th-century artist Clara Peeters. Her refined, symbolic floral arrangements inspired me to create my own still life with subtle references. The work features a grasshopper, an insect that symbolized unpredictability and the transience of life in paintings of that period. The work references the rich Baroque painting tradition, in which small details often carry deeper meanings and express the fleeting nature of beauty.

Flowers in a Vase with Grasshopper is part of my ongoing project Preserved , which consists of recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods. The material consists entirely of artificial flowers and props from thrift stores.

Het nieuwe expositiejaar bij kunstenaarsvereniging Haagse Kunstkring gaat van start op zaterdag 10 januari om 16.00 uur. Onder de titel Nieuw opent dan een expositie met een grote keuze aan recent werk van 106 kunstenaars. De expositie zal te zien zijn in alle zalen van ons pand aan de levendige Denneweg in Den Haag.

Ik exposeer een bloemstilleven dat geïnspireerd is op het werk van 17de-eeuwse kunstenaar Clara Peeters. Haar verfijnde bloemstukken vol symboliek inspireerden me tot het maken van dit eigen stilleven met subtiele verwijzingen. In het werk figureert een sprinkhaan, een insect dat in de schilderkunst van die tijd symbool stond voor onvoorspelbaarheid en de vergankelijkheid van het leven. Het werk refereert aan de rijke schildertraditie van de barok, waarin kleine details vaak diepere betekenissen dragen en de vluchtigheid van schoonheid wordt uitgedrukt.

Bloemstilleven Flowers in a Vase with Grasshopper is onderdeel van mijn lopende project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uitsluitend uit artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten afkomstig uit de kringloopwinkel.

Luce Celeste

Heilig hemelsblauw,

het nu, raakt me aan.

Een gezegend, gezond en gelukkig nieuw jaar gewenst ♥

Een onverwacht moment van contemplatie in de Chiesa delle Anime in Sardinië inspireerde mij tot het stilleven Luce Celeste . Tegen het zachte hemelsblauw, dat ik daar zag in een nis van de kerk, vormen kerstgroen en bloemen in een goudkleurig vaasje op voet een winterse compositie. Het werk echoot dat ene plotselinge sacrale moment.

Dit werk maakt deel uit van de serie Preserved , die recreaties omvat van bloemstillevens uit diverse stijlperiodes in de kunstgeschiedenis. Het materiaal dat ik in deze serie gebruik, bestaat uit gevonden kunstbloemen en rekwisieten uit kringloopwinkels.

An unexpected moment of contemplation in the Chiesa delle Anime in Sardinia inspired me to create the still life Luce Celeste . Against the soft sky blue, that I saw in a niche of the church, Christmas greenery and flowers in a gold-colored vase on a pedestal together create a wintry composition. The work echoes that one sudden, sacred moment.

This work is part of the Preserved series, which includes recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods in art history. The materials I use in this series consist of found artificial flowers and props from thrift stores.

Balancing Act - Pulchri Studio

Pulchri Studio's hall features an ongoing exhibition featuring only small-format works. This concept allows you to take a piece home immediately after purchase, making it an ideal spontaneous art gift. I've enjoyed participating in this exhibition several times.

In de hal van Pulchri Studio is een doorlopende expositie met uitsluitend klein formaat werk. In dit concept is een werk meteen na aankoop mee te nemen, waardoor het bij uitstek geschikt is als spontaan kunstcadeau.
Ik heb al meerdere keren met plezier aan deze expositie meegedaan.

Dit keer doe ik mee met Balancing Act, een stilleven met een vervreemdende touch, dat iets ademt van het surrealisme van Magritte en de geometrische speelsheid van de Memphis Group. Nomads on tour - a guest at CAMPIS

The photography collective Nomads of Sehnsucht, of which I am a member, has been invited by CAMPIS, a contemporary art venue in Assen, for an exhibition curated by Regina Broersma. As a collective, we embrace our nomadic nature through exhibitions at diverse, changing locations. We are proud to present our work in the beautiful CAMPIS space, under the title 'In Search of the Untold'.

Regina Broersma has selected works from two of my ongoing projects for this exhibition: seven flower still lifes from Project Preserved and the diptych 'Rêve Blue' from Project Between .

Nomads of Sehnsucht on tour - te gast bij CAMPIS

Fotografencollectief Nomads of Sehnsucht, waar ik deel van uitmaak, is uitgenodigd door CAMPIS, podium voor hedendaagse kunst in Assen, voor een expositie onder curatorschap van Regina Broersma. Als collectief omarmen we onze nomadische aard door exposities op uiteenlopende, wisselende locaties. We zijn trots in de prachtige ruimte van CAMPIS, onder de titel In Search of the Untold, ons werk te kunnen presenteren.

Uit twee van mijn lopende projecten is voor deze expositie door Regina Broersma werk geselecteerd: zeven bloemstillevens uit Project Preserved en het tweeluik 'Rêve Blue' uit Project Between .

Autumn Exhibition Pulchri Studio 2025

The annual Autumn Salon at Pulchri Studio in The Hague, a vibrant exhibition featuring contemporary visual art, opens this year on September 13, 2025.

The exhibition will feature my work, Art Deco. This still life exudes the atmosphere of the art movement of the same name that emerged at the beginning of the last century. Geometric figures and sleek, somewhat industrial forms were the innovative elements of this style. With its stylized and sculptural shape, the arum lily seamlessly aligns with the visual language of this period.

Art Deco is part of my Preserved series, in which I recreate floral still lifes from various art historical periods using found artificial flowers and thrift store props. The work is also available for purchase in an edition of seven in the Pulchri Studio webshop .

Najaarssalon Pulchri Studio 2025

De jaarlijkse Najaarssalon bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag, een levendige expositie met actuele beeldende kunst, start dit jaar op 13 september 2025.

In de expositie zal mijn werk Art Deco te zien zijn. Dit stilleven ademt de sfeer van de gelijknamige kunststroming die begin vorige eeuw ontstond. Geometrische figuren en strakke, enigszins industriële vormen waren de vernieuwende elementen van deze stijl.Met haar gestileerde en sculpturale vorm sluit de aronskelk naadloos aan bij de beeldtaal van deze periode.

Art Deco maakt deel uit van mijn serie Preserved, waarin ik bloemstillevens uit verschillende kunsthistorische periodes recreëer met gevonden kunstbloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel. Het werk is tevens in een oplage van 7 te koop in de webshop van Pulchri Studio .

One elegant tulip

Exhibition Small Format at Pulchri Studio - fall 2025

For this new flower still life, entitled Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly , I was inspired by a painting by Balthasar van der Ast, which he made around 1625. It appealed to me because of its effective simplicity. A vase with one elegant tulip. The scene features a butterfly and a fly: the butterfly as a metaphor for transformation, rebirth and for the soul leaving the body; the fly as a sign of decay and the inevitability of death. Together they depict the vulnerable boundary between life and death, between the spiritual and the earthly – a recurring theme in Dutch still lifes from the 17th century.

Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly can be seen and purchased from 26 August at Pulchri Studio in the exhibition 'Small Format'. An exhibition formula where the work can be taken home immediately after purchase. So you don't have to wait until the end of the exhibition period. Expositie Klein Formaat bij Pulchri Studio - najaar 2025

Voor dit nieuwe bloemstilleven, getiteld Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly liet ik me inspireren door een schilderij van de hand van Balthasar van der Ast, dat hij maakte omstreeks 1625. Het sprak me aan vanwege de doeltreffende eenvoud. Een vaasje met één zwierige tulp. In het tafereel figureren een vlinder en een vlieg: de vlinder als metafoor voor transformatie, wedergeboorte en voor de ziel die het lichaam verlaat; de vlieg als teken van verval en de onvermijdelijkheid van de dood. Samen verbeelden zij de kwetsbare grens tussen leven en dood, tussen het spirituele en het aardse – een terugkerend thema in Hollandse stillevens uit de 17de eeuw.

Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly is vanaf 26 augustus te zien en te koop bij Pulchri Studio in de expositie 'Klein Formaat'. Farewell Exhibition Mayor of Delft at Kadmium

The current mayor of Delft, Marja van Bijsterveldt, will step down from her position in early September. As a farewell, art center Kadmium has invited her to curate an exhibition. The selected works reflect her personal preferences and vision, with an emphasis on the iconic blue of Delft, under the fitting title Blauwdruk (“Blueprint”). From the nominated candidates, I am one of the eight artists selected by Marja, along with: Coby Brinkers, Leni van den Band, Loes van Kouwenhoven, Brenda Vonk Noordegraaf, Enlightment Arts, René Jacobs, and Rob van Es.

From this observation – “Marja found your Delft blue vase with the plate of fruit in the foreground and the blue background beautiful.” – three of my floral still lifes have been selected, which will be presented in the Blauwdruk exhibition. These works are part of my ongoing project Preserved. For this project, I create still lifes using materials from thrift stores. In my studio on the Hooikade in Delft, I use these to compose scenes that reference stylistic elements and symbolism from various periods in art history.

The exhibition will be opened on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 at 3:00 PM by Karin Schrederhof, Delft’s alderman for Housing, Care, Educational Facilities, and Sports. You are warmly invited!

Afscheidsexpositie burgemeester van Delft bij Kadmium

De huidige burgemeester van Delft, Marja van Bijsterveldt, legt begin september haar ambt neer. Als afscheid heeft Kunstencentrum Kadmium haar uitgenodigd om een tentoonstelling te cureren. Gekozen is voor werk dat uitgaat van haar persoonlijke voorkeuren en visie, met een accent op het iconische blauw van Delft, onder de passende titel Blauwdruk . Uit de voorgedragen kandidaten, ben ik één van de acht door Marja geselecteerde kunstenaars samen met: Coby Brinkers, Leni van den Band, Loes van Kouwenhoven, Brenda Vonk Noordegraaf, Enlightment Arts, René Jacobs en Rob van Es.

Vanuit deze observering – "Marja vond van jou de Delfts blauwe vaas met het bordje fruit op de voorgrond en de blauwe achtergrond prachtig." – zijn drie van mijn bloemstillevens gekozen die op expositie Blauwdruk gepresenteerd zullen worden. Het is werk uit mijn lopende project Preserved . De stillevens in dit project maak ik met materialen uit kringloopwinkels. Hiermee creëer ik in mijn studio aan de Hooikade in Delft stillevens die verwijzen naar stijlkenmerken en symboliek uit verschillende periodes in de kunstgeschiedenis.

The Balance Spring and the Grasshopper

On July 19, the exhibition Time, Timeless, Movement will start – an initiative of Pulchri Studio, Stichting Haegsche Tijd and the Swiss Embassy. The exhibition celebrates the 350th anniversary of Christiaan Huygens’ invention of the balance spring and explores the theme of time in all its versatility.

For this exhibition, I created new work within my ongoing project Preserved , which touches on the tension between the desire to stop time and the transience that eludes it. The human tendency to want to preserve the beauty of nature and, as it were, freeze it in time, is inherent in my project. I make the flower still lifes in Preserved exclusively with artificial flowers, vases and props from thrift shops – objects each with their own past. With this I create flower still lifes that refer to stylistic features and symbolism from different periods in art history. I temporarily build each still life in my studio and dismantle it again as soon as the image has been captured to my liking. In each still life, different time layers merge.

For the still lifes in this exhibition, I was inspired by two specific flower compositions by 17th-century painter Clara Peeters. Her flower arrangements full of symbolism inspired me to create two of my own still lifes with subtle references. In one work, a bumblebee appears, symbolizing diligence and industriousness; in the other, a grasshopper, as a sign of transience and the unexpected.

De balansveer en de sprinkhaan

Op 19 juli a.s. start expositie Time, Timeless, Movement – op initiatief van Pulchri Studio, Stichting Haegsche Tijd en de Zwitserse Ambassade. De expositie viert de 350e verjaardag van Christiaan Huygens’ uitvinding van de balansveer en onderzoekt het thema tijd in al zijn veelzijdigheid.

Voor deze expositie, maakte ik nieuw werk binnen mijn lopende project Preserved , dat raakt aan de spanning tussen het verlangen om de tijd stil te zetten en de vergankelijkheid die zich daaraan onttrekt. De neiging van de mens om de schoonheid van de natuur te willen conserveren en als het ware te willen bevriezen in de tijd, zit besloten in mijn project. De bloemstillevens in Preserved maak ik uitsluitend met kunstbloemen, vazen en rekwisieten uit kringloopwinkels – objecten elk met een eigen verleden. Hiermee creëer ik bloemstillevens die verwijzen naar stijlkenmerken en symboliek uit verschillende periodes in de kunstgeschiedenis. Elk stilleven bouw ik tijdelijk op in mijn studio en breek ik weer af zodra het beeld naar mijn wens is vastgelegd. In elk stilleven versmelten zo verschillende tijdlagen.

Voor de stillevens in deze expositie liet ik me inspireren door twee specifieke bloemcomposities van 17de-eeuwse kunstschilder Clara Peeters. Haar bloemstukken vol symboliek inspireerden me tot het maken van twee eigen stillevens met subtiele verwijzingen. In het ene werk verschijnt een hommel, symbool voor vlijt en bedrijvigheid; in het andere een sprinkhaan, als teken van vergankelijkheid en het onverwachte.

De tentoonstelling wordt op zaterdag 19 juli 2025 om 17:00 uur geopend door Jan van Zanen, Burgemeester van Den Haag en Corinne Cicéron Bühler, de Zwitserse ambassadeur in Nederland. Je bent van harte uitgenodigd!

After a rain shower - installation art

With a new exhibition concept, called Duo’s, the Hague Art Circle inspires mutual collaboration. Artists and makers from the Hague Art Circle work in teams and place their work in a new perspective.

For this exhibition I participate in a team with visual artist Inez Ligtenberg and poet Hans Franse. In 2016 we already worked together in the exhibition project Op Drift. Our current collaboration arose from the poem Na een regenbui by Hans, in which a red light plays a key role. Together we develop an installation in which our individual contributions are interwoven with shared elements, resulting in a spatial elaboration in which poetry and image come together.

Met een nieuw expositieconcept, onder de naam Duo’s, inspireert de Haagse Kunstkring tot onderlinge samenwerking. Kunstenaars en makers van de Haagse Kunstkring gaan in teams aan de slag en plaatsen zo hun werk in een nieuw perspectief.

Voor deze expositie participeer ik in een team met beeldend kunstenaar Inez Ligtenberg en dichter Hans Franse. In 2016 werkten wij al eens samen in expositieproject Op Drift . Onze huidige samenwerking ontstond vanuit het gedicht Na een regenbui van Hans, waarin een rood licht een sleutelrol speelt. Samen ontwikkelen we een installatie waarin onze individuele bijdragen zijn verweven met gezamenlijke elementen, resulterend in een ruimtelijke uitwerking waarin poëzie en beeld samenkomen.

Exhibition Morphogenesis

Just like last year, I took the initiative on behalf of the photographers’ collective Nomads of Sehnsucht for a new exhibition at Pulchri Studio in The Hague – a project that I enjoyed organizing, thanks to the pleasant collaboration with Pulchri and my fellow Nomads.

I cordially invite you to this exhibition with the theme Morphogenesis , the magical process of morphogenesis, in which complex forms and structures arise from a simple starting form. For the Nomads, the spark for a search for hidden metaphorical meanings.

Within my ongoing series Between , I created new work for this exhibition. For Echoes of Eden , a diptych with organic forms that seem to float between reality and dream, the work of Odilon Redon with his Darwinian affinity is a silent guide. Darwin wrote: “From so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.” This sense of connectedness is woven through the work – as something we know intuitively, something elementary and universal.

Wonderful Creatures, another new work, is formed from wooden frames covered with semi-transparent voile. This delicate fabric shows orchids – moving freely in space between visibility and concealment. The work carries Darwin’s admiration: “They are wonderful creatures, these Orchids…” – not to explain, but to suggest the unspeakable.

Expositie Morphogenesis

Net als vorig jaar heb ik namens fotografencollectief Nomads of Sehnsucht het initiatief genomen voor een nieuwe expositie bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag – een project dat ik met plezier heb georganiseerd, met dank aan de prettige samenwerking met Pulchri en mijn mede-Nomads.

Ik nodig je van harte uit voor deze expositie met als thema Morphogenesis , het magische proces van morfogenese, waarbij complexe vormen en structuren ontstaan uit een eenvoudige beginvorm. Voor de Nomads dè vonk voor een zoektocht naar verborgen metaforische betekenissen.

Binnen mijn lopende serie Between , maakte ik voor deze expositie nieuw werk. Voor Echoes of Eden , een tweeluik met organische vormen die lijken te zweven tussen werkelijkheid en droom, is het werk van Odilon Redon met zijn darwinistische affiniteit een stille gids. Darwin schreef: “From so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.” Dit gevoel van verbondenheid is door het werk verweven - als iets dat we intuïtief weten, iets elementairs en universeels.

Wonderful Creatures, eveneens een nieuw werk, is gevormd uit houten frames bedekt met semi-transparante voile. Deze delicate stof toont orchideeën – vrij in de ruimte bewegend tussen zichtbaarheid en verhulling.
Het werk draagt Darwins bewondering in zich: "They are wonderful creatures, these Orchids..." – niet om te verklaren, maar om het onnoembare te suggereren.

A small vase in Neoclassical style is the starting point of this new flower still life: Souffle du Midi . It exudes an atmosphere of elegant, fresh green gardens and shady, classical park landscapes in the bright light of an early Mediterranean summer. The flower still life measures only 24 x 29 cm and is part of my ongoing project Preserved.

Sluijters' flowers – my homage at Pulchri Studio

The annual Spring Salon will start on May 17 at Pulchri Studio on the Lange Voorhout in The Hague. An exhibition full of new and surprising visual art. The participants compete for the Van Ommeren - De Voogt Prize, awarded by a professional jury consisting of Arie van Geest, Jeroen Spijker, Eric de Vries, Isa Roelink and Ed van der Kooy.

I cordially invite you to the festive opening on Saturday 17 May at 5:00 PM, where my flowerstill Sluijters Hommage will be on display. This floral still life is inspired by two paintings by Jan Sluijters from 1912. One canvas still breathes the atmosphere of Luminism, while the other shows a powerful shift towards a more expressive use of color. The Delft Blue vase that appears in both works formed the starting point for my own interpretation.

Sluijters Hommage is part of my Preserved series, in which I recreate floral still lifes from various art historical periods with found artificial flowers and props from the thrift store. The work is also for sale in an edition of 7 in the webshop of Pulchri Studio .

Sluijters' bloemen – mijn hommage bij Pulchri Studio

Vanaf 17 mei start de jaarlijkse Voorjaarssalon bij Pulchri Studio aan het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag. Een expositie vol nieuwe en verrassende beeldende kunst. De deelnemers dingen mee naar de Van Ommeren - De Voogtprijs, toegekend door een vakjury bestaande uit Arie van Geest, Jeroen Spijker, Eric de Vries, Isa Roelink en Ed van der Kooy.

Ik nodig je van harte uit voor de feestelijke opening op zaterdag 17 mei om 17.00 uur, waar mijn werk Sluijters Hommage te zien zal zijn. Dit bloemstilleven is geïnspireerd door twee schilderijen van Jan Sluijters uit 1912. Het ene doek ademt nog de sfeer van het Luminisme, terwijl het andere een krachtige omslag naar expressiever kleurgebruik toont. De Delfts Blauwe vaas die in beide werken figureert vormde het startpunt voor mijn eigen interpretatie.

In the showcase, I am displaying the mini flower still life "The Queen of the Modern" (30 x 27 cm). A work by Tamara de Lempicka served as the model for my still life. De Lempicka's style features an exciting blend of modernism and classical elements.

Pulchri Studio Small Format exhibition Spring 2025

Inspiration for a new flower still life titled Bonbonnière Botero came from the work of Colombian artist Fernando Botero. His style, known as 'Boterismo', is characterized by the exaggeration of shapes, often depicted in round contours. The objects in Botero's work have a playful, almost cartoonish touch. This style can also be found in his flower still lifes, which are characterized by eye-catching convex shapes that are placed on top of each other.

'Bonbonnière Botero' can be seen and purchased this winter at Pulchri Studio in the exhibition Klein Formaat. All works in this exhibition are small in size and can be taken home immediately after purchase! My work is also for sale in the Pulchri Studio webshop .

'Bonbonnière Botero' bij Pulchri

Pulchri Studio Klein Formaat expositie voorjaar 2025

Inspiratie voor een nieuw bloemstilleven met de titel Bonbonnière Botero vond ik in het werk van de Colombiaanse kunstenaar Fernando Botero. Zijn stijl, bekend als 'Boterismo', kenmerkt zich door het overdrijven van vormen, vaak weergegeven in ronde contouren. De objecten in Botero's werk hebben een speelse, bijna cartooneske toets. Deze stijl is ook terug te vinden in zijn bloemstillevens die worden gekenmerkt door in het oog springende bolle vormen die boven elkaar zijn geplaatst.

'Bonbonnière Botero' is deze winter te zien en te koop bij Pulchri Studio in de expositie Klein Formaat. Alle werken in deze expositie zijn gering van formaat en zijn direct na aankoop mee te nemen! Mijn werk is tevens in de webshop van Pulchri Studio te koop .

Het bloemstilleven is onderdeel van mijn Project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Bloemen, vazen en props in deze werken zijn afkomstig uit de kringloopwinkel.

In the Display Cabinet I show my mini flower still life 'Memphis Whispers'. The name of the Memphis Group can be found in the name of my work. This group

- described with a wink as "a shotgun wedding between Bauhaus and Fisher-Price" - was founded in the eighties of the last century by the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass. This movement introduced a style that was inspired by various art movements, including Constructivism from the Interbellum and Pop Art from the sixties. The Memphis Group style is characterized by striking colors and geometric shapes. In this small flower still life (30 x 30 cm) 'Memphis Whispers' I play with the use of color and formal language that refer to the Memphis style.

New 2025 at Haagse Kunstkring

A quick start to the new exhibition year at the Haagse Kunstkring. Under the title 'NEW' a group exhibition opens on Saturday 11 January with a large amount of very varied work by 116 artists. The exhibition will be on display in all rooms of our beautiful building on the Denneweg.

I show a flower still life in delicate pink and white pastel shades, loosely inspired by the work of the famous flower painter Gerard Van Spaendonck. Van Spaendonck, born in Tilburg, made a career in France. Louis XVI appointed him court painter in 1774. Remarkably, he was ennobled by Napoleon Bonaparte after a rich career as professor of flower painting, advisor to the Académie and co-founder of the Institut de France.

Nieuw 2025 bij Haagse Kunstkring

Een snelle start van het nieuwe expositiejaar bij de Haagse Kunstkring. Onder de titel 'NIEUW' opent op zaterdag 11 januari een groepsexpositie met een grote hoeveelheid zeer afwisselend werk van 116 kunstenaars. De expositie zal te zien zijn in alle zalen van ons mooie pand aan de Denneweg.

Ik toon een bloemstilleven in tere rose en witte pastelschakeringen, dat losjes geïnspireerd is op het werk van de beroemde bloemenschilder Gerard Van Spaendonck. De in Tilburg geboren Van Spaendonck maakte carrière in Frankrijk. Lodewijk XVI benoemde hem tot hofschilder in 1774. Opmerkelijk genoeg werd hij door Napoleon Bonaparte in de adelstand verheven na een rijke loopbaan als hoogleraar bloemschilderen, adviseur van de Académie en mede-oprichter van het Institut de France.

Het bloemstilleven 'Van Spaendonck Hommage' is onderdeel van mijn lopende project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

Wees welkom om het werk persoonlijk te komen ervaren, weg van het scherm, waar de beleving een andere dimensie heeft.

On my New Year's card, an artificial Christmas rose found in a thrift store plays the leading role. Together with the tall glass vase in a beautiful pine green shade, this led to a flower still life inspired by a painting by Jan Sluijters from 1918. It is part of my Preserved project full of flower still lifes made from second-hand materials.

Op mijn nieuwjaarskaart speelt een in de kringloopwinkel gevonden kunst-kerstroos de hoofdrol. Samen met de hoge glazen vaas in een mooie dennengroene tint leidde dit tot een bloemstilleven geïnspireerd op een schilderij van Jan Sluijters uit 1918. Het is onderdeel van mijn project Preserved vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen.

Échos du Rococo at Pulchri

The miniature garden vase, which forms the starting point for this still life, put me on the trail of magnificent and lush gardens in the rococo style. This compact but meticulously crafted work plays with the elegance and lush ornamentation of that period. Clear light blue, fresh lemon yellow and green tones radiate a frivolous energy, while the graceful lines and abundant flowers reflect the lighthearted charm of this style period.

Échos du Rococo bij Pulchri

Het miniatuur tuinvaasje, dat het uitgangspunt voor dit stilleven vormt, bracht me op het spoor van luisterrijke en weelderige tuinen in rococo-stijl. Dit compacte maar minutieus vervaardigde werk speelt met de elegantie en weelderige ornamentiek uit die periode. Heldere lichtblauwe, frisse citroengele en groene tonen stralen een frivole energie uit, terwijl de sierlijke lijnen en overvloedige bloemen de lichthartige charme van deze stijlperiode weerspiegelen.

'Échos du Rococo' is deze winter te zien en te koop bij Pulchri Studio in de expositie Klein Formaat. Alle werken in deze expositie zijn gering van formaat en zijn direct na aankoop mee te nemen! Mijn werk is tevens in de webshop van Pulchri Studio te koop .

Barok! in Kadmium Delft

Barok! Still life in autumn tones

During the autumn exhibition of the Delft presentation space Kadmium, I will show 'Barok', a still life in autumn tones from my Project Preserved . 'Barok' is inspired by the work of two female Dutch painters from the seventeenth century: Maria van Oosterwijck and Rachel Ruysch. Both occupied a special position as women in a profession that was otherwise mainly practiced by men. Maria van Oosterwijck, originally from Nootdorp, set up her first studio on Voorstraat in Delft. Later she left for Amsterdam, where she worked as an assistant to the still life painter Willem van Aelst. Rachel Ruysch, born in The Hague, also trained in this studio in Amsterdam.

You're welcome to visit to join us at the opening, October 6th, from 3 p.m. Kadmium's exhibition space is located on the top floor of the Prinsenkwartier in Delft.

Barok! Stilleven in herfsttonen

Tijdens de herfst expositie van de Delftse presentatieruimte Kadmium toon ik 'Barok', een stilleven in herfsttonen uit mijn project Preserved . 'Barok' is geïnspireerd op het werk van twee vrouwelijke Hollandse kunstschilders uit de zeventiende eeuw: Maria van Oosterwijck en Rachel Ruysch. Beiden namen een bijzondere positie in als vrouw in een beroep dat verder vooral door mannen werd uitgeoefend. Maria van Oosterwijck, afkomstig uit Nootdorp, richtte haar eerste atelier in aan de Voorstraat in Delft. Later vertrok zij naar Amsterdam, waar zij als assistente van de stilllevenschilder Willem van Aelst ging werken. Ook Rachel Ruysch, geboren in Den Haag, volgde in dit atelier in Amsterdam haar opleiding.

Wees welkom op de opening, zondag 6 oktober vanaf 15.00 uur! De expositieruimte van Kadmium bevindt zich op de bovenverdieping van het Prinsenkwartier in Delft.

Expressionismus & Blumen in Gläsern

The annual Autumn Salon starts at Pulchri Studio in The Hague at the end of September. This late summer exhibition offers a varied range of new visual art. The participants have a chance to win the Van Ommeren - De Voogt Prize. This year the jury consists of Michel Hoogervorst, Bo Oskamp, Siebrand Weitenberg, Anna de Voogt and Ed van der Kooy.

I hope to meet you at the festive opening on Saturday, September 28 from 5:00 PM.

My contribution to the salon consists of two related flower still lifes.

The first still life 'Expressionismus' is modeled on a painting by Jan Sluijters that he made in 1930. In the 1930s Sluijters experimented extensively within the Expressionism movement. The painting on which my work is based contains dark, powerful tones with a single contrasting element and an elegant composition, which create an intense atmosphere.

A flower still life by Paul Klee formed the basis of the second still life entitled 'Blumen in Gläsern'. He painted it in 1925, during the heyday of his transformative and influential Bauhaus period. 'Blumen in Glasern' is a typical example of Klee's unique style, in which abstract and figurative elements go together with a balanced use of color. His art was influenced by expressionism, surrealism and cubism, from which Klee developed his own distinctive style.

Both works are part of the Preserved series , consisting of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The material consists of vases and artificial flowers from the thrift store. The works are available in the webshop of Pulchri Studio .

Expressionismus & Blumen in Gläsern

Eind september start de jaarlijkse Najaarssalon bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag. Deze nazomerexpositie biedt een gevarieerd aanbod van nieuwe beeldende kunst. De deelnemers maken kans op de Van Ommeren - De Voogtprijs. De jury bestaat dit jaar uit Michel Hoogervorst, Bo Oskamp, Siebrand Weitenberg, Anna de Voogt en Ed van der Kooy.

Ik hoop je te ontmoeten op de feestelijke opening op zaterdag 28 september vanaf 17.00 uur.

Mijn bijdrage voor de salon bestaat uit twee gerelateerde bloemstillevens.
Het eerste stilleven 'Expressionismus' is gemodelleerd naar een schilderij van Jan Sluijters dat hij maakte in 1930. In de jaren 1930 experimenteerde Sluijters volop binnen de stroming van het Expressionisme. Het schilderij waar mijn werk op is gebaseerd, bevat donkere krachtige tinten met een enkel contrasterend element en een zwierige compositie, die een intense sfeer creëren.

Een bloemstilleven van Paul Klee stond aan de basis van het tweede stilleven met de titel 'Blumen in Gläsern'. Hij schilderde het in 1925, tijdens de hoogtijdagen van zijn transformatieve en invloedrijke Bauhaus-periode. Memphis Whispers at Pulchri Studio

The Memphis Group - described with a wink as "a shotgun marriage between Bauhaus and Fisher-Price" - was founded in the 1980s by the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass. This movement introduced a style inspired by various art movements, including Constructivism from the Interwar period and Pop Art from the 1960s. The Memphis Group style is characterized by striking colors and geometric shapes. In this small floral still life (30 x 30 cm), entitled 'Memphis Whispers', I play with the use of color and design language that refer to the Memphis style.

Memphis Whispers

De Memphis Group - met een knipoog omschreven als "a shotgun wedding between Bauhaus and Fisher-Price" - werd opgericht in de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw door de Italiaanse ontwerper Ettore Sottsass. Deze beweging introduceerde een stijl die geïnspireerd was door diverse kunststromingen, waaronder het Constructivisme uit het Interbellum en de Pop Art uit de jaren zestig. De Memphis Group-stijl kenmerkt zich door opvallende kleuren en geometrische vormen. Een warme zomerbries speelde door mijn gedachten bij de totstandkoming van dit bloemstilleven op klein formaat (27 x 27 cm) met de titel 'Yellow Yellow'. Licht impressionistische invloeden weerklinken in dit werk: qua asymmetrische compositie, geïnspireerd op een stilleven van Floris Verster, en in sfeer, met warme heldere tinten die verwijzen naar Paul Gauguin.

Spring vibes!

The annual Spring Salon will take place at Pulchri Studio in The Hague in April 2024. The salon offers a varied range of new visual arts. I hope to meet you at the festive opening on March 30 from 5 p.m.

My contribution to the salon is the spring-like flower still life 'Meissen', inspired by the Louis Quinze period. During that period you will see elegant ceramic flower still lifes made of delicate porcelain flowers, which were often manufactured in the famous Meißner Porzellan workshops. The work is also for sale in the Pulchri Studio webshop.

In april 2024 vindt de jaarlijkse Voorjaarssalon bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag plaats. De salon biedt een gevarieerd aanbod van nieuwe beeldende kunst. Ik hoop je te ontmoeten op de feestelijke opening op 30 maart vanaf 17.00 uur.

Mijn bijdrage voor de salon is het lenteachtige bloemstilleven 'Meissen', geïnspireerd op de Louis Quinze periode. In die periode zie je zwierige keramieken bloemstillevens van delicate porseleinen bloemen die veelal in de fameuze Meißner Porzellan werkplaatsen gefabriceerd werden. The Hidden Source at Pulchri Studio

With an exhibition on the theme 'The Hidden Source', photographer collective Nomads of Sehnsucht finds a sublime temporary home in the beautiful Tuingalerie of Pulchri Studio on the Lange Voorhout in The Hague.

The Nomads of Sehnsucht take up the challenge to express the deeper meaning of 'The Hidden Source' as a theme. An ambiguous, elusive theme, which can imply both an abstract and a personal concept. It is a universal human search for the source of inspiration, wisdom and creativity, which often seems hidden and difficult to grasp.

In the works of art we show in our exhibition, we see this search for a hidden source. The Nomads are taken on a journey through the magical realm of the imagination, discover new worlds and reach for the indefinable, in their longing for 'The Hidden Source'.

As part of the theme, I made a new triptych entitled Rêve Vert. It symbolizes a dream world, the mysterious, the fragile, the source around which we flutter. I found my inspiration in Symbolism, one of the innovative art movements that emerged during the Fin de Siècle, with a particular focus on the work of Odilon Redon. In 1900-1901, this French painter made a series of groundbreaking panels with loose flowers and branches that seem to float in a vacuum without specific space or time. Work that focuses on our magical inner world. Redon: "My paintings cannot be defined. They place us, like music, in the ambiguous realm of the indefinite."

In their work, the Nomads of Sehnsucht experiment with the boundaries of photography. Partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of an effort to arrive at his own visual language, suitable for depicting indefinable desires - Sehnsucht. The work is made with digital and analogue cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. This is how an interesting, associative image was created around the theme 'The Hidden Source'.

The Hidden Source bij Pulchri Studio

Met een expositie rond het thema ‘The Hidden Source’ vindt fotografencollectief Nomads of Sehnsucht een subliem tijdelijk onderkomen in de prachtige Tuingalerie van Pulchri Studio aan het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag.

De Nomads of Sehnsucht gaan de uitdaging aan om de diepere betekenis van ‘The Hidden Source’ als thema uit te drukken. Een ambigu, ongrijpbaar thema, dat zowel een abstract als een persoonlijk concept kan inhouden. Het is een universele menselijke zoektocht naar de bron van inspiratie, wijsheid en creativiteit, die vaak verborgen lijkt en moeilijk te vatten.

In de kunstwerken die wij op onze tentoonstelling tonen, zien we deze zoektocht naar een verborgen bron terug. De Nomads laten zich meevoeren op een reis door het magische rijk van de verbeelding, ontdekken nieuwe werelden en reiken naar het ondefinieerbare, in hun verlangen naar 'The Hidden Source'.

Ik maakte in het kader van het thema een nieuw drieluik met de titel Rêve Vert . Het symboliseert een droomwereld, het mysterieuze, het fragiele, de bron waar we omheen fladderen. Ik vond mijn inspiratie in het Symbolisme, een van de vernieuwende kunstbewegingen die ontstonden tijdens de Fin de Siècle, met een bijzondere focus op het werk van Odilon Redon. Deze Franse schilder maakte in 1900-1901 een serie baanbrekende panelen met losse bloemen en takken die in het luchtledige lijken te zweven zonder specifieke ruimte of tijd. Werk dat zich richt op onze magische innerlijke wereld. Redon: "Mijn schilderijen zijn niet te definiëren. Ze plaatsen ons, net als muziek, in het ambigue rijk van het onbepaalde."

In hun werk experimenteren de Nomads of Sehnsucht met de grenzen van de fotografie. Deels uit nieuwsgierigheid naar het medium en deels uit een streven om te komen tot een eigen beeldtaal, geschikt om onbestemde verlangens – Sehnsucht - te verbeelden. Het werk is gemaakt met digitale en analoge camera’s, hightech of juist met de hand in de donkere kamer ontwikkeld en afgedrukt. Zo is een interessant, associatief beeld rond het thema 'The Hidden Source' tot stand gekomen.

Haagse Kunstkring chairman Anita Poolman has taken the initiative for a program around International Women's Day (March 8), with the title Quand même! , the motto of famous theater icon Sarah Bernhardt. There are exhibitions programmed, a salon, lectures and a poet's afternoon.

In this context, a special group exhibition will open on Saturday, March 2, with work by: Mieke Schlaman, Lizan van Dijk, Carla Krutzen, Leidi van Leeuwen, Jacqueline Louter-Hoos, Mariska Mallee, Ingrid Rollema, Tamara Traxel and Fenneke Weltevrede. I cordially invite you to come and view the exhibition.

I am showing a new work entitled 'In the wings' . I found inspiration for this work in Symbolism, and specifically the work of Odilon Redon. In 1900-1901, Redon made a series of innovative representations with flowers and branches that seem to float in a vacuum, as an abstraction of our inner world. 'In the Wings' refers to theater elements such as the stage, the facade, the decor and the wings on either side of the stage. It symbolizes ambiguity, layering, fragility, and playing with illusion. It includes two apparently identical images. While one image approaches the scene head-on, the other reveals a look behind the scenes.

Haagse Kunstkring voorzitter Anita Poolman heeft het initiatief genomen voor een programma rondom Internationale Vrouwendag (8 maart), onder het motto Quand même! , de lijfspreuk van befaamd theatericoon Sarah Bernhardt. Er staan exposities geprogrammeerd, een salon, lezingen en een dichtersmiddag.

Op zaterdag 2 maart opent in dit kader een bijzondere groepsexpositie met werk van: Mieke Schlaman, Lizan van Dijk, Carla Krutzen, Leidi van Leeuwen, Jacqueline Louter-Hoos, Mariska Mallee, Ingrid Rollema, Tamara Traxel en Fenneke Weltevrede. Ik toon een nieuw werk met de titel 'In the wings' (in de coulissen). Inspiratie voor dit werk vond ik in het Symbolisme, en daarbinnen specifiek het werk van Odilon Redon. Redon maakte in 1900-1901 een serie innovatieve voorstellingen met bloemen en takken die in het luchtledige lijken te zweven, als een abstractie van onze innerlijke wereld. 'In the Wings' refereert aan theaterelementen zoals het toneel, de façade, het decor en de coulissen aan weerszijden van het podium. Het symboliseert meerduidigheid, gelaagdheid, fragiliteit, en het spelen met illusie. Het omvat twee ogenschijnlijk gelijke beelden. Terwijl het ene beeld de scène frontaal benadert, onthult het andere een blik achter de schermen.

Looking at art in Ouddorp

In Gallery 'De Overkant' in Ouddorp, Goeree-Overflakee, I am showing a number of my flower still lifes from the Project Preserved , as part of an exhibition by photographers collective Nomads of Sehnsucht. The exhibition was created in collaboration with Regio Art Rijnmond (RAR) and Kunstkijk.

New Work 2024 at Haagse Kunstkring

Immediately in the new year, a group exhibition will open at Haagse Kunstkring on Saturday January 6 under the title 'NEW'. A wide variety of work by more than 100 artists will be on display in all rooms of the characterful building on Denneweg.

I am showing a new flower still life. I found inspiration in a work by Tamara de Lempicka, also known as 'The Queen of the Modern'. This queen of Art Deco is known for her striking and exciting mix of modernism and classical elements. A very inspiring starting point for this small elegant work.

You are welcome to experience the work personally, away from the screen, where the experience has a different dimension.

'The Artist Is Seen'

On January 14, 2024, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Paul de Mol will talk with visitors and artists about the exhibition. Entrance is free.

Nieuw Werk 2024 bij Haagse Kunstkring

Meteen in het nieuwe jaar opent op zaterdag 6 januari een groepsexpositie bij de Haagse Kunstkring onder de titel 'NIEUW'. Een grote verscheidenheid aan werk van ruim 100 kunstenaars zal te zien zijn in alle zalen van het karaktervolle pand aan de Denneweg.

Ik toon een nieuw bloemstilleven. Inspiratie trof ik in een werk van Tamara de Lempicka, ook wel 'The Queen of the Modern' genoemd. Deze koningin van de Art Deco is bekend om haar opvallende en spannende mengeling van modernisme en klassieke elementen. Een zeer inspirerend uitgangspunt voor dit kleine elegante werkje.

Wees welkom om het werk persoonlijk te komen ervaren, weg van het scherm, waar de beleving een andere dimensie heeft.

My New Year's greeting card features a romantic mini still life in warm shades of red, with a touch of Art Deco. It is entitled 'Roses are Red'. The opening line of a poem dating back to Edmund Spenser's epic The Faerie Queene from 1590. It is part of my project Preserved , full of floral still lifes made from second-hand materials.

Op mijn nieuwjaars wenskaart figureert een romantisch mini stilleven in warme roodtinten, met een vleugje Art Deco. Het draagt als titel 'Roses are Red' . De beginregel van een gedicht dat teruggaat tot Edmund Spenser's epos The Faerie Queene uit 1590. Het is onderdeel van mijn project Preserved vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen.

The Hidden Source - Haagse Kunstkring

Exhibition The Hidden Source was created through a collaboration between photographers collective Nomads of Sehnsucht, of which I am a member, and poets from the Arts Department of the Haagse Kunstkring. Together we looked for the deeper meaning of the theme The Hidden Source. Poets from the Haagse Kunstkring selected or wrote poems that fit the theme. The photographers of Nomads of Sehnsucht, in turn, based their works on these poems. This has resulted in an interesting, associative exhibition that can be viewed and read.

In the context of the theme, I made a new diptych entitled Rêve Blue . It symbolizes a dream world, the mysterious, the fragile, the source around which we flutter. I found my inspiration in Symbolism, one of the innovative art movements that emerged during the Fin de Siècle, with a particular focus on the work of Odilon Redon. In 1900-1901, this French painter made a series of groundbreaking panels with loose flowers and branches that seem to float in a vacuum without specific space or time. Work that focuses on our magical inner world. Redon: "My paintings cannot be defined. They place us, like music, in the ambiguous realm of the indefinite."

De Verborgen Bron - Haagse Kunstkring

Expositie De Verborgen Bron kwam tot stand door een samenwerking tussen fotografencollectief Nomads of Sehnsucht, waar ik deel van uitmaak, en dichters van de afdeling Letteren van de Haagse Kunstkring. Samen zijn we op zoek gegaan naar de diepere betekenis van het thema De Verborgen Bron. Dichters van de Haagse Kunstkring selecteerden of schreven gedichten die passen bij het thema. De fotografen van Nomads of Sehnsucht maakten, op hun beurt, werk bij deze gedichten. Zo is een interessant, associatief geheel tot stand gekomen, dat bekeken èn gelezen kan worden.

Ik maakte in het kader van het thema een nieuw tweeluik met de titel Rêve Blue . Het symboliseert een droomwereld, het mysterieuze, het fragiele, de bron waar we omheen fladderen. Ik vond mijn inspiratie in het Symbolisme, een van de vernieuwende kunstbewegingen die ontstonden tijdens de Fin de Siècle, met een bijzondere focus op het werk van Odilon Redon. Deze Franse schilder maakte in 1900-1901 een serie baanbrekende panelen met losse bloemen en takken die in het luchtledige lijken te zweven zonder specifieke ruimte of tijd. Werk dat zich richt op onze magische innerlijke wereld. Redon: "Mijn schilderijen zijn niet te definiëren. Ze plaatsen ons, net als muziek, in het ambigue rijk van het onbepaalde."

A touch of autumn

In the magnificent exhibition halls of Pulchri Studio on the Lange Voorhout in The Hague, the large varied autumn salon of Pulchri's artist members will take place in September.

I present in Pulchri's autumn show Ikebana Fall . A new flower still life, rooted in the atmosphere of a last autumn day. The composition is freely created according to the rules of the Ikebana style and breathes the spirit of this Japanese art form.

Ikebana Fall is part of my ongoing project Preserved . Artificial flowers and props from the thrift store are my working materials in this project. I use them to build up still lifes in my studio with historical references to various visual art movements and style periods. If I like my 'mini-installation', in terms of composition, colours, background, proportions, atmosphere, light and feeling, then I capture it. For me, everything has to be 'right' on the spot in the studio. For a fleeting moment caught in time.

Een zweem van herfst

In de magnifieke zalen van Pulchri Studio aan het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag, vindt in september de grote veelzijdige najaarssalon van Pulchri's kunstenaarsleden plaats.

Ik nodig je van harte uit voor deze expositie, die opent op 9 september a.s. om 17.00 uur.

Ik presenteer in Pulchri's najaarsshow Ikebana Fall. Een nieuw bloemstilleven, dat wortelt in de sfeer van een laatste herfstdag. De compositie is vrijelijk volgens de regels van de Ikebana-stijl gemaakt en ademt de geest van deze Japanse kunstvorm.

Ikebana Fall is onderdeel van mijn doorlopende project Preserved . Artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel zijn in dit project mijn werkmaterialen. Hiermee bouw ik in mijn studio stillevens op met historische referenties naar verschillende beeldende kunststromen en stijlperiodes. Als het geheel me bevalt, in termen van compositie, kleuren, achtergrond, verhoudingen, sfeer, licht en gevoel, dan leg ik de 'mini-installatie' vast. Alles moet voor mij 'kloppen' ter plekke in de studio. Voor een vluchtig moment gevangen in de tijd.

Kunstmakende leden van de Haagse Kunstkring tonen gedurende de maand augustus een rijke verscheidenheid aan recent werk in een grote groepsexpositie.

Je bent van harte uitgenodigd voor deze expositie, met een opening op 5 augustus a.s. vanaf 16.00 uur.

Ik exposeer 'Bouquet Vert de Jade' . De vondst van rozen in een ongebruikelijke jadegroene tint vormde de eerste aanzet tot dit werk. Losjes associërend op het latere werk van George Braque kwam ik tot dit stilleven, waarin ik probeer de overgang naar kubistische vormen uit zijn werk te vangen.

'Bouquet Vert de Jade' is gemaakt binnen het project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. De bloemen en vaas zijn - zoals alle props in dit project - afkomstig uit de kringloopwinkel.

Art-making members of the Haagse Kunstkring will show a rich variety of recent work in a large group exhibition during the month of August.

You are cordially invited to this exhibition, which will open on August 5 from 4 p.m.

I exhibit 'Bouquet Vert de Jade' . The discovery of roses in an unusual jade green hue was the first step towards this work. Loosely associating with the later work of George Braque, I came to this still life, in which I try to capture the transition to cubist forms in his work.

'Bouquet Vert de Jade' was made within the Preserved project , consisting of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The flowers and vase - like all props in this project - come from the thrift store.

Nieuwe Leden Expositie bij Pulchri Studio

In maart 2022 werd ik als kunstenaarslid bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag aangenomen. Dit jaar tonen alle nieuwe leden uit het jaar 2022 hun werk in de 'Nieuwe Leden Expositie'. De expositieperiode is van 1 t/m 30 juli 2023.

Ik nodig je van harte uit voor deze expositie, met een opening op 1 juli a.s. vanaf 17.00 uur.

Ik exposeer nieuw werk, waaronder dit weelderige bloemstilleven met de titel ´Sèvres'. Tijdens het maken liet ik me qua sfeer en kleurzetting inspireren door het beroemde Franse Sèvres porselein en qua compositie en uitwerking door de aquarellen van Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). Deze Belgische kunstschilder en botanicus was eerst werkzaam als hofschilder van Marie Antoinette van Oostenrijk en opmerkelijk genoeg na de Franse Revolutie in dienst van keizerin Joséphine de Beauharnais. Redouté was een leerling van Gerard van Spaendonck. Het maken van dit uitbundige stilleven in de studio was een feest!

'Sèvres' is onderdeel van het project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Bloemen, vazen en props in deze werken zijn afkomstig uit de kringloopwinkel. Het werk is in een oplage van 7 (zolang de voorraad strekt) te koop via de webshop van Pulchri Studio .

In March 2022 I was accepted as an artist member at Pulchri Studio in The Hague. This year, all new members from the year 2022 will show their work in the 'New Members Exhibition'. The exhibition period is from 1 to 30 July 2023.

I am exhibiting new work, including this opulent flower still life entitled 'Sèvres'. During the making I was inspired in terms of atmosphere and color scheme by the famous French Sèvres porcelain and in terms of composition and effect by the watercolors of Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). This Belgian painter and botanist first worked as court painter to Marie Antoinette of Austria and, remarkably enough, after the French Revolution in the service of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais. Redouté was a student of Gerard van Spaendonck. Making this exuberant still life in the studio was a blast!

'Sèvres' is part of the Preserved p roject, which consists of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. Flowers, vases and props in these works come from the thrift store. The work is available in an edition of 7 (while stocks last) via the Pulchri Studio webshop .

I hereby cordially invite you to the Spring Salon 2023 at Pulchri Studio in The Hague. The salon offers a richly varied range of new visual art. The festive opening will take place on April 1 at 5 p.m. I hope to meet you!

My contribution to the salon is a flower still life 'Fiori di Morandi III'. It is part of a triptych inspired by the work of Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964). This Italian painter had his own recognizable style. He worked in a small studio where he arranged the objects slightly differently. His work breathes silence and tranquility, in which every detail matters. His sober, subtle still lifes sometimes feature flowers. I took these still lifes as a starting point. It was with great pleasure that I worked on this tranquil, contemplative still life.

'Fiori di Morandi III' was created within the Preserved Project , consisting of recreations of floral still lifes from different style periods in art. Flowers, vases and props in these works come from the thrift store. The work is available in an edition of 7 (while stocks last) via the Pulchri Studio webshop .

Hierbij nodig ik je van harte uit voor de Voorjaarssalon 2023 bij Pulchri Studio in Den Haag. De salon biedt een rijk geschakeerd aanbod van nieuwe beeldende kunst. De feestelijke opening vindt plaats op 1 april vanaf 17.00 uur. Ik hoop je te ontmoeten!

Mijn bijdrage voor de salon is bloemstilleven 'Fiori di Morandi III'. Het is onderdeel van een drieluik dat het werk van Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964) als inspiratiebron heeft. Deze Italiaanse schilder had een geheel eigen herkenbare stijl. Hij werkte in een klein atelier waar hij de voorwerpen steeds iets anders rangschikte. Zijn werk ademt stilte en rust, waarin elk detail ertoe doet. In zijn sobere, subtiele stillevens figureren soms bloemen. Deze stillevens nam ik als uitgangspunt. Met veel plezier heb ik aan dit verstilde, contemplatieve stilleven gewerkt.

'Fiori di Morandi III' is gemaakt binnen het project Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Bloemen, vazen en props in deze werken zijn afkomstig uit de kringloopwinkel. Het werk is in een oplage van 7 (zolang de voorraad strekt) te koop via de webshop van Pulchri Studio .

Hierbij nodig ik je van harte uit voor mijn solo expositie tijdens Rotterdam Photo Festival 2023.

Het festival, dat onderdeel is van Art Rotterdam Week, is geprogrammeerd voor de periode van 9-12 februari 2023. Rotterdam Photo is gehuisvest in stoere containers op een typisch Rotterdamse locatie: op het Willemsplein, gelegen aan de Nieuwe Maas, voor de Spido afvaartplaats, met uitzicht op de Kop van Zuid.

"Where do we find freedom?"

Deze vraag in de Rotterdam Photo call, met als thema Freedom Redefined , zette me aan het denken over wat vrijheid is, of het bestaat en wat het definieert. Vrijheid kan voortkomen uit de afwezigheid van invloeden of beperkingen van anderen, uit een bevrijding van iets. Dit vrijheidsconcept richt zich op omstandigheden en de onmogelijkheden of mogelijkheden om ze te veranderen. Vrijheid kan ook worden benaderd als een vrijheid van binnenuit, de vrijheid om onze gedachten te creëren en te observeren. Er is geen zekerheid en beperkte controle over wat ons overkomt. Wat ons helpt is om vrijheid te creëren in onze reactie. In ieder van ons schuilt een bron van innerlijke vrijheid.

Voor de vertaling naar een visuele expressie van deze notie van innerlijke vrijheid, keek ik naar historische symbolen, vormen en beeldtaal in filosofie en religie, zoals het drieluik, een altaarstuk bestaande uit een middenpaneel en twee buitenpanelen, en offergaven in de vorm van bloemen. Het resulteerde in mijn nieuwe werk 'Triptych' bestaande uit drie verwante beelden, die in elkaar overvloeien. De panelen van het drieluik waarop het tafereel is afgedrukt hangen vrij in de ruimte. Het drieluik wordt ingebed door een drieluik op een groter formaat dat eveneens vrijhangend is door middel van een ophangsysteem met draden.

Tijdens Rotterdam Photo toon ik mijn werk 'Triptych' in een intieme 10ft container. Wees welkom om deze te komen bekijken!

The festival, which is part of Art Rotterdam Week, is programmed for the period of February 9-12, 2023. Rotterdam Photo is housed in sturdy containers at a typical Rotterdam location: on Willemsplein, located on the Nieuwe Maas, in front of the Spido departure point. , with a view of the Kop van Zuid.

"Where do we find freedom?"
This question in the Rotterdam Photo call, with the theme Freedom Redefined , got me thinking about what freedom is, whether it exists and what defines it. Freedom can come from the absence of influences or restrictions from others, from a liberation from something. This concept of freedom focuses on circumstances and the impossibilities or possibilities of changing them. Freedom can also be approached as a freedom from within, the freedom to create and observe our thoughts. There is no certainty and limited control over what happens to us. What helps us is to create freedom in our response. There is a source of inner freedom in each of us.

For the translation into a visual expression of this notion of inner freedom, I looked at historical symbols, forms and imagery in philosophy and religion, such as the triptych, an altarpiece consisting of a central panel and two outer panels, and offerings in the form of flowers. It resulted in my new work 'Triptych' consisting of three related images that flow into each other. The panels of the triptych on which the scene is printed hang freely in the container space. The triptych is framed by a larger-sized triptych that is also free-hanging by means of a suspension system with wires.

During Rotterdam Photo I show my work 'Triptych' in an intimate half 10ft container. Be welcome to come and view it! The opening is on Thursday 9 February from 6.30 pm to 9 pm. New Year's wish for 2023

Especially for my New Year's greeting card I made 'Trinity', a flower still life that is part of my project Preserved , consisting of flower still lifes made from second-hand materials. 'Trinity' started with the discovery of this small dark green glass ball vase in a thrift store in Delft. Combined with a fabric 'orchid', which has only three flowers due to the ravages of time, I made this still life in vivid green tones with a nod to the Japanese Ikebana style. It is for sale in my online flower shop .

Nieuwjaarswens voor 2023

Speciaal voor mijn nieuwjaars wenskaart maakte ik Trinity , een bloemstilleven passend in mijn project Preserved vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen. Trinity startte met de vondst van het kleine glazen donkergroene bolvaasje in een Delftse kringsloopwinkel. Gecombineerd met een stoffen 'orchidee', die door de tand des tijds nog maar drie bloemen telt, maakte ik dit stilleven in frisgroene tinten met een knipoog naar de Japanse Ikebana stijl. Het is te koop in mijn online bloemenwinkel .

Portret Jean Wijten - Gouden Boeken Haagse Kunstkring

Dit portret van Jean Wijten maakte ik in opdracht van de Haagse Kunstkring.

Per 1 oktober 2022 is Jean Wijten met pensioen gegaan na meer dan 35 jaar werkzaam te zijn geweest als zeer gewaardeerde bureaumanager bij de Haagse Kunstkring. Op 30 september werd hij door het Algemeen Bestuur van de Haagse Kunstkring tot Lid van Verdienste benoemd. Hij ontving de bij deze benoeming behorende legpenning en tevens een plek in de 'Gouden Boeken' van de Haagse Kunstkring.

De Gouden Boeken zijn dikke folianten waarin de geschiedenis van de HKK is terug te vinden vanaf 1892, in schetsen en tekeningen van voor de vereniging gedenkwaardige personen en gebeurtenissen. Ze worden als de kroonjuwelen van de Haagse Kunstkring beschouwd.

Ik ben zeer vereerd dat ik deze portretopdracht mocht uitvoeren en dat het fotoportret van Jean van Wijten wordt opgenomen in deze Gouden Boeken. Het is de eerste keer dat het portret wordt uitgevoerd met fotografie als techniek. Het portret van Jean is zodoende het eeste fotografische portret in de Gouden Boeken.

Commissioned by the Haagse Kunstkring I made this portrait of Jean Wijten.

As of October 1, 2022, Jean Wijten has retired after more than 35 years as a highly regarded Chef de Bureau at the Haagse Kunstkring. On September 30, he was appointed Member of Merit by the General Board of the Haagse Kunstkring. He received the medal associated with this appointment and also a place in the 'Golden Books' of the Haagse Kunstkring.

The Golden Books are thick folios in which the history of the HKK can be found from 1892, in sketches and drawings of memorable persons and events for the association. They are considered the crown jewels of the Hague Art Circle.

I am very honored that I was allowed to carry out this portrait assignment and that the photo portrait of Jean van Wijten is included in these Golden Books. It is the first time that the portrait is made with photography as a technique. The portrait of Jean is therefore the first photographic portrait in the Golden Books.

SieboldHuis 'Beauty of the imperfection'

Japan Museum SieboldHuis, Gallery Yomooka and Gallery Café Leidse Lente, initiated an art competition and exhibition titled 'Beauty of the imperfection' in June of this year. The 100 participating artists present one work with a maximum size of 25x25x25 cm, within the theme 'Beauty of the imperfection', inspired by the Japanese aesthetic concept of Wabi-sabi. A pottery bowl was provided to each participating artist. The artist was then free to interpret the work according to the theme, within the defined dimensions.

I present Gift a new work inspired by the theme "Beauty of imperfection" and the associated Japanese concept of Wabi sabi. Core part of this concept is focused on the acceptance of transience and imperfection: nothing remains, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect. Beauty can be found in imperfection.

For my visual expression I have looked at shapes, imagery and historical references such as the Tomobako, a typical Japanese packaging in the form of a wooden box, which is used for ceramics and the cherry blossom which flutters down like snow in Japanese prints.

Gift consists of two parts, a wooden frame and a base, which together form a cube.The top part is made of sawn triangular slats. Printed canvas is stretched on the inside of this semi-cubic frame. The starting point of this work is depicted in the images on all sides of the cube: the white ceramic bowl. men and petals down. The lower part is made of square slats. A ribbon is stretched through the recesses that ends in a bow shape on top.

I have a personal connection with the theme because, from childhood, I have been drawn to the compositions, sophistication, stillness and concentration that can be found in Japanese art.

SieboldHuis 'Schoonheid van de imperfectie'

Japanmuseum SieboldHuis, Galerie Yomooka en Galerie Café Leidse Lente, initieerden in juni van dit jaar kunstwedstrijd en expositie ‘Schoonheid van de imperfectie’. De in totaal 100 deelnemende kunstenaars presenteren één werk met een maximale afmeting van 25x25x25 cm, binnen het thema ‘Schoonheid van de imperfectie’, geïnspireerd op het Japanse esthetische concept Wabi-sabi. Er werd een aardewerk kom aan iedere deelnemende kunstenaar verstrekt. De kunstenaar was vervolgens vrij om, binnen de gestelde dimensies, het werk te interpreteren naar het thema.

Ik exposeer Gift een nieuw werk dat geïnspireerd is op het thema "Schoonheid van de imperfectie' en het daarmee verbonden Japanse begrip Wabi sabi. Kernonderdeel van dit concept is gericht op de acceptatie van vergankelijkheid en imperfectie: niets blijft, niets is af, en niets is perfect. Er is schoonheid te vinden in onvolmaaktheid.
Voor mijn beeldende uitdrukking heb ik gekeken naar vormen, beeldtaal en historische referenties zoals de Tomobako, een typisch Japanse verpakking in de vorm van een houten box, die gebruikt wordt voor o.a. keramiek en de kersenbloesem die op Japanse prenten naar beneden dwarrelt als sneeuw.

Gift bestaat uit twee onderdelen, een houten frame en een onderstel, die tezamen een kubus vormen. Het bovenste deel is gemaakt van verzaagde driehoeklatten. Aan de binnenzijde van dit semikubusvormige frame is bedrukte doek gespannen. In de afbeeldingen aan alle zijden van de kubus figureert het uitgangspunt van dit werk: de witte keramische kom. In de kom dwarrelen bloemen en bloemblaadjes naar beneden. Het onderste deel is gemaakt van vierkante latten. Door de uitsparingen is een lint gespannen die bovenop in een strikvorm eindigt.

Ik heb een persoonlijke band met het thema omdat ik, van kinds af aan, wordt aangetrokken door de composities, verfijndheid, verstilling en concentratie die in Japanse kunst is terug te vinden.

Exhibition 'Selfies' at Pulchri Studio

Pulchri Studio is celebrating its 175th anniversary in October with four anniversary exhibitions, including an exhibition with selfies, in the broadest sense of the word, of current artist members of Pulchri Studio. This exhibition will be opened on October 1 by Princess Beatrix, patroness of Pulchri Studio. After this closed private opening, the exhibition will be open to the public until Sunday 23 October.

I am showing a recent work there entitled Sanyu, which is inspired by the work of Chang Yu (Sanyu or 常玉 1901–1966), a Chinese-French painter. I have tried to capture his unique style - searching between East and West, between traditional and modern, rooted in Art Deco - in this floral still life. I also looked at the work of John Brack, an Australian painter whose work flourished in the 1950s. In his work I particularly liked the use of beautiful brown tones and a composition with three chrysanthemums.

The work is part of the Preserved series, consisting of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The material consists of found artificial flowers and props from the thrift store.

Jubileumexpositie Selfies bij Pulchri Studio

Pulchri Studio viert in oktober zijn 175 jarig jubileum met vier jubileumtentoonstellingen, waaronder een expositie met selfies, in de meest ruime zin van het woord, van huidige kunstenaarsleden van Pulchri Studio. Deze expositie zal op 1 oktober worden geopend door Prinses Beatrix, beschermvrouwe van Pulchri Studio. Na deze besloten opening zal de expositie tot en met zondag 23 oktober open zijn voor publiek.

Ik toon er een recent werk met de titel Sanyu dat geïnspireerd is op het werk van Chang Yu (Sanyu of 常玉 1901–1966), een Chinees-Franse schilder. Ik heb zijn unieke stijl - zoekend tussen Oost en West, tussen traditioneel en modern, geworteld in de Art Deco - in dit bloemstilleven proberen te vangen. Daarbij keek ik ook naar het werk van John Brack, een Australische schilder wiens werk in de jaren vijftig tot bloei kwam. Bij zijn werk spraken mij het gebruik van prachtige bruintonen en een compositie met drie chrysanten in het bijzonder aan.

Het werk is onderdeel van de serie Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

Spinoza and the art of happiness

The exhibition 'Spinoza and the Art of Happiness' opens on Sunday 2 October in the Haagse Kunstkring. The opening will be performed by Jeroen Vervliet, director of the Peace Palace library in The Hague.Various artists were asked to create artworks as a response to Spinoza's ideas. For this various themes were available.

For my new work Shrine, which I made especially for this exhibition, I took as a starting point the theme that revolves around Spinoza's concept of "Deus sive natura" translated as "God is nature". This is the core part of his philosophy when it comes to knowing and feeling that god is in all things.

I wanted to make a visual expression for this. For this I looked at shapes, imagery and historical references such as the Tabernacle, a movable tent that served as the sanctuary of the Israelites, and the Most Holy in Solomon's temple, which was shaped like a cube.

My work consists of a cube within a cube that hangs in a matching folding suspension system by means of crosswise tensioned wires. The cubes consist of a wooden painted frame that is covered with fabric. The outer cube is covered with a semi-transparent voile fabric on which a geometric pattern is printed. The inner cube is covered with a velvet fabric printed with a photographic print of flowers and leaves. The wooden folding suspension construction is equipped with a suspension system with metal hooks and eyes and cotton threads. The same floating suspension system with wires and hooks and eyes is used to place the smaller inner cube in the larger one.

Spinoza en de kunst van het geluk

Op zondag 2 oktober opent de expositie 'Spinoza en de Kunst van het Geluk' in de Haagse Kunstkring. Aan verschillende kunstenaars werd gevraagd om kunstwerken te maken als een reactie op het gedachtegoed van Spinoza. Er waren verschillende thema’s beschikbaar die als handvat konden worden gebruikt.

Ik nam voor mijn nieuwe werk Shrine, dat ik speciaal voor deze expositie maakte, als uitgangspunt het thema dat draait om Spinoza's begrip "Deus sive natura" vertaald als "God is de natuur". Dit kernonderdeel van zijn gedachtegoed waar het gaat om het weten en voelen dat god in alle dingen is.
Ik heb hier een beeldende uitdrukking voor willen maken. Hiervoor heb ik gekeken naar vormen, beeldtaal en historische referenties zoals de Tabernakel, een verplaatsbare tent die dienst deed als heiligdom van de Israëlieten en het Allerheiligste in de tempel van Salomon, die de vorm van een kubus had
.

Mijn werk bestaat uit een kubus in een kubus die door middel van kruislings gespannen draden in een bijbehorend opvouwbaar ophangsysteem hangt. De kubussen bestaan uit een houten geschilderd frame dat met stof bespannen is. De buitenste kubus is bespannen met een semitransparante voile stof waarop een geometrisch patroon geprint is. De binnenste kubus is bespannen met een fluwelen stof bedrukt met een fotografische print met bloemen en bladeren. De houten inklapbare ophangconstructie is voorzien van een ophangsysteem met metalen haakjes en ogen en katoenen draden. Eenzelfde zwevend ophangsysteem met draden en haakjes en ogen is gebruikt om de kleinere binnenste kubus te plaatsen in de grotere.

In and around the historic 'Farm under the Seven Linden' of Hoveniersbedrijf Louis van der Meijden in Delfgauw, the work of a total of twelve visual artists can be seen during the art route 'De Verbeelding'. The location is part of an art route, organized by Stichting De Verbeelding, which takes you to many beautiful locations in Pijnacker, Nootdorp, Delfgauw and Oude Leede and in which a total of more than 80 artists participate.

I am very enthusiastic about my place, 'Het Tuinhuis', where I will exhibit a selection of my flower still lifes from project Preserved. The Garden House can be found in the middle of the beautifully landscaped garden behind the farm. It is bordered by borders full of blooming flowers. In short, a very appropriate environment!

In en rond de historische 'Boerderij onder de Zeven Linden' van Hoveniersbedrijf Louis van der Meijden in Delfgauw is tijdens kunstroute 'De Verbeelding' het werk van in totaal twaalf beeldende kunstenaars te zien. De locatie is onderdeel van een kunstroute, georganiseerd door Stichting De Verbeelding , die langs vele mooie locaties in Pijnacker, Nootdorp, Delfgauw en Oude Leede voert en waar in totaal ruim 80 kunstenaars aan deelnemen.

Ik ben heel enthousiast over mijn plek, 'Het Tuinhuis', waar ik een selectie van mijn bloemstillevens uit project Preserved zal exposeren. Het Tuinhuis is te vinden midden in de prachtig aangelegde tuin achter de boerderij. Het wordt omzoomd door borders vol bloeiende bloemen. Kortom, een zeer toepasselijke omgeving!

Pulchri Studio Autumn Exhibition 2022

A variety of art is on display and for sale in this exhibition. Members of Pulchri Studio show recent work in the beautiful rooms of the building on the Lange Voorhout.

My contribution is flower still life 'Baroque'. A work in warm autumn tones, inspired by the work of two female Dutch painters from the seventeenth century: Maria van Oosterwijck and Rachel Ruysch. It is part of the Preserved series, which consists of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The material consists of artificial flowers, vases and props from the thrift store.

Pulchri Studio Najaarssalon 2022

In deze tentoonstelling is een keur aan kunst te zien en te koop. Leden van Pulchri Studio tonen recent werk in de prachtige zalen die het pand aan het Lange Voorhout rijk is.

Mijn bijdrage is bloemstilleven 'Barok'. Een werk in warme najaarstonen, geïnspireerd op het werk van twee vrouwelijke Hollandse kunstschilders uit de zeventiende eeuw: Maria van Oosterwijck en Rachel Ruysch. Het is onderdeel van de serie Preserved , bestaande uit recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uit artificiële bloemen, vazen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel. Het werk is in een oplage van 7 (zolang de voorraad strekt) te koop via de webshop van Pulchri Studio .

At Home at KunstWerkt

A first! I am going to exhibit for the first time at KunstWerkt in Schiedam. I'm participating in an exhibition titled 'At Home'. Appropriate title in two respects. As a brand new artist member, I would like to feel at home at KunstWerkt and Kunstwerk moved in June of this year to a beautiful new home on the Lange Nieuwstraat, located on De Plantage, the oldest city park in the Netherlands. Also for members of Kunstwerkt who have been members for some time, it takes some time to get used to their new home.

'Home' is set up around a feeling rather than a theme or subject. The feeling of being at home can be in anything. My work for the exhibition is 'Delft Blue'. A flower still life from my project Preserved . With my studio/atelier in the heart of Delft, I thought it appropriate to show this work during 'At Home'. In addition, 'Delft Blue' was my mother's favorite. A beautiful tribute to her.

Thuis bij KunstWerkt

Een primeur! Ik ga voor het eerst exposeren bij KunstWerkt in Schiedam. Ik doe mee met een expositie met de titel 'Thuis'. Toepasselijke titel in twee opzichten. Ik wil me als kersvers kunstenaarslid graag bij KunstWerkt thuis gaan voelen èn Kunstwerk is in juni van dit jaar verhuisd naar een prachtig nieuw onderkomen aan de Lange Nieuwstraat, gelegen aan De Plantage, het oudste stadspark van Nederland. Ook voor de leden van Kunstwerkt die al langer lid zijn, is het dus wennen aan hun nieuwe thuis.

'Thuis' is opgezet rond een gevoel eerder dan een thema of onderwerp. Het gevoel van thuis kan in van alles zitten. IMijn werk voor de expositie is 'Delft Blue'. Een bloemstilleven uit mijn project Preserved . Met mijn studio/atelier in hartje Delft, vond ik het passend om dit werk tijdens 'Thuis' te tonen. Daarnaast was 'Delft Blue' de favoriet van mijn moeder. Een mooi eerbetoon dus aan haar.

'New Work' - Haagse Kunstkring

In this exhibition with recent work by members of the Haagse Kunstkring I will show flower still life 'Rachel Ruysch Tribute'. This work is a tribute to the flowery work of Rachel Ruysch from the Dutch Baroque period. Her flower still lifes consist of carefully composed bouquets against a dark background. She used both live and prepared flowers as an example in her flower arrangements.

The work is part of project Preserved .

'Nieuw Werk' - Haagse Kunstkring

In deze tentoonstelling met recent werk van leden van de Haagse Kunstkring toon ik bloemstilleven 'Rachel Ruysch Tribute'. Dit werk is een eerbetoon aan het bloemrijke werk van Rachel Ruysch uit de Hollandse Barok periode. Haar bloemstillevens bestaan uit zorgvuldig gecomponeerde boeketten tegen een donkere achtergrond. In haar bloemstukken nam ze zowel levende als geprepareerde bloemen als voorbeeld.

Het werk maakt deel uit van project Preserved .

Pulchri - Photography: from polaroid to panorama

In this exhibition the work of various artist members of Pulchri Studio comes together around one common characteristic: photographic work. On Saturday, August 6, the exhibition opens at 5 p.m. in the beautiful Weissenbruchzaal of Pulchri Studio at Lange Voorhout 15 in The Hague. You are cordially invited to come and watch.

I am exhibiting two photographic flower still lifes from my project Preserved .
My work 'Moonnight, ode to Sluijters' was based on two paintings by Jan Sluijters. 'Moon Night', a painting from 1912, and a flower still life in expressionist style from 1930. Composition and colors inspired me to make this arrangement in a bright blue vase against a deep sea green background.
The sunny still life 'Louis Quinze' is based on the Louis Quinze style of the same name, also known as Rococo. The style, named after the French king Louis XV, is characterized by exuberant, lavish abundance and asymmetrical elements and exudes lightness and elegance. The material in both still lifes consists of artificial flowers, vases and props from the thrift store.

Pulchri - Fotografie: van polaroid tot panorama

In deze expositie komt het werk van diverse kunstenaarsleden van Pulchri Studio samen rond één gemeenschappelijk kenmerk: fotografisch werk.Op zaterdag 6 augustus a.s. opent de expositie om 17.00 uur in de fraaie Weissenbruchzaal van Pulchri Studio aan het Lange Voorhout 15 in Den Haag. Je bent van harte uitgenodigd om te komen kijken.

Ik exposeer twee fotografische bloemstillevens uit mijn project Preserved .
Aan de basis van mijn werk 'Moonnight, ode to Sluijters' stonden twee schilderijen van Jan Sluijters. 'Maannacht', een schilderij uit 1912, en een bloemstilleven in expressionistische stijl uit 1930. Compositie en kleuren inspireerden mij tot het maken van deze schikking in een felblauwe vaas tegen een diep zeegroene achtergrond.
Het zonnige stilleven 'Louis Quinze' is geënt op de gelijknamige Louis Quinze-stijl, ook wel Rococo genoemd. De stijl, vernoemd naar de Franse koning Louis XV, kenmerkt zich door uitbundige, overdadige overvloed en assymetrische elementen en straalt luchtigheid en elegantie uit. Het materiaal in beide stillevens bestaat uit artificiële bloemen, vazen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

Winactie
Bezoekers aan deze tentoonstelling maken kans op een speciale jubileumprent (Pulchri Studio bestaat dit jaar 175 jaar). Hiertoe wordt gevraagd om tijdens je bezoek aan Pulchri Studio tussen 6 en 28 augustus 2022 een (artistieke) foto te maken en die te delen via sociale media. Rotterdam Photo in a 20ft container

I I hereby cordially invite you to my solo exhibition during Rotterdam Photo Festival 2022.

The festival in an extra large edition is scheduled from May 18-22, 2022. The festival is part of Art Rotterdam Week. Rotterdam Photo is housed in sturdy containers in a beautiful, typical Rotterdam location: on Willemsplein, in front of the Spido departure point, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge 'De Zwaan' with a view of the Kop van Zuid.

"Is it worth it, or is it pure vanity to want to preserve our creations for eternity?"

I took this question from the call, with the Planet Human theme as the starting point for my contribution. My current project Preserved with recreations of flower still lifes from bygone times, made with artificial flowers from the thrift store, fits in beautifully. This project started when I brought some stuff to my local thrift store. My eye fell on an artificial flower in a vase. And suddenly I realized that this artificial flower is some kind of weak, desperate attempt by man to 'preserve' the best that nature has to offer by encasing it in plastic, fabric and steel wire.

During Rotterdam Photo I will show 14 flower still lifes - including many new ones - in my 'own' 20ft container. You are welcome to come and see it!

I will be present as much as possible during the opening hours of the festival. The opening is on Wednesday 18 May from 7.30 pm to 9 pm. Rotterdam Photo in 20ft container

Hierbij nodig ik je van harte uit voor mijn solo expositie tijdens Rotterdam Photo Festival 2022.

Het festival in een extra grote editie is geprogrammeerd van 18-22 mei 2022. Het festival is onderdeel van Art Rotterdam Week. Rotterdam Photo is gehuisvest in stoere containers op een prachtige, typisch Rotterdamse locatie: op het Willemsplein, voor de Spido afvaartplaats,aan de voet van de Erasmusbrug 'De Zwaan' met uitzicht op de Kop van Zuid.

"Is it worth it, or is it pure vanity to want to preserve our creations for eternity?"

Deze vraag uit de call, met als thema Planet Human, nam ik als uitgangspunt voor mijn bijdrage. Mijn huidige project Preserved met recreaties van bloemstillevens uit vervlogen tijden, gemaakt met kunstbloemen uit de kringloopwinkel, sluit prachtig aan. Dit project is ontstaan toen ik wat spullen bij mijn plaatselijke kringloopwinkel bracht. Mijn oog viel daar op een kunstbloem in een vaas. En ineens realiseerde ik me dat deze kunstbloem een soort zwakke, wanhopige poging van de mens is om het mooiste wat de natuur te bieden heeft te 'preserveren' door het te vangen in plastic, stof en staaldraad.

Tijdens Rotterdam Photo toon ik 14 bloemstillevens - waaronder vele nieuwe - in een 'eigen' 20ft container. Wees welkom om deze te komen bekijken!

Het medium fotografie staat centraal in deze groepsexpositie bij Haagse Kunstkring. Zowel kunstenaars die fotografie als zelfstandig medium hanteren als kunstenaars die met gemengde technieken werken komen aan bod.

Ik zie ernaar uit om onderdeel uit te maken van deze mooie kunstenaarsvereniging en galerie voor hedendaagse kunst met een bijzonder rijke historie!

As of today I am a participant of KunstWerkt, an artist collective from Schiedam. Last week the balloting committee looked at my work, website and resume. For the assessment I submitted a selection of four flower still lifes from my current project Preserved .

From the advice: "You can see photographed flower still lifes that in the distance are reminiscent of the vanitas tradition. The work looks technically perfect. The work balances on the edge of art and kitsch, but does not go over the edge. That is what makes this work exciting. The photographed flowers are made of plastic/plastic, but you have to look closely to see that. The work therefore also plays with the contrast real/fake. There is also an interesting tension in this. Both the composition and the lighting are characterized by such a balance that indeed (in her own words) a 'serene, still' image emerges."

I already know several participants of KunstWerkt and I look forward to being part of this enthusiastic artists' collective!

Toegelaten bij KunstWerkt Schiedam

Vanaf vandaag ben ik deelnemer van KunstWerkt, een kunstenaarscollectief uit Schiedam. Vorige week heeft de ballotagecommissie gekeken naar mijn werk, website en cv. Voor de beoordeling leverde ik een selectie van vier bloemstillevens uit mijn huidige project Preserved aan.

Uit het advies: "Te zien zijn gefotografeerde bloemstillevens die in de verte aan de vanitas-traditie doen denken. Het werk oogt technisch perfect. Het werk balanceert op het randje van kunst en kitsch, maar gaat niet over de rand. Dat maakt dit werk spannend. De gefotografeerde bloemen zijn van plastic/kunststof, maar je moet goed kijken om dat te zien. Het werk speelt dus ook met de tegenstelling echt/onecht. Ook daarin zit een interessante spanning. Zowel de compositie als de belichting kenmerken zich door een zodanig evenwicht dat inderdaad (in haar eigen woorden) een ‘sereen, verstild’ beeld ontstaat."

Ik ken al aan aantal deelnemers van KunstWerkt en kijk er naar uit om deel uit te maken van dit enthousiaste kunstenaarscollectief!

Rotterdam Photo Festival 2022 XL has been postponed due to the current outbreak of the Omicron variant. The new period: May 18 - 22, 2022.

Rotterdam Photo is part of the Art Rotterdam Week and Rotterdam Photo has rightly decided to keep the festival under the umbrella of Rotterdam Art in order to attract international collectors and visitors. Rotterdam Photo is housed in sturdy containers in a beautiful, typical Rotterdam location: on Willemsplein, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge 'De Zwaan' with a view of the Kop van Zuid.

Photography studio open again

Unfortunately, the photo studio was closed from December 19, 2021 to January 14, in line with the corona measure in force at the time, whereby all non-medical contact professions had to close their doors. The studio is now open again for new appointments.

Helaas was de fotostudio van 19 december 2021 t/m 14 januari jl. gesloten in lijn met de toen geldende coronamaatregel, waarbij alle niet-medische contactberoepen hun deuren moesten sluiten. De studio is nu dus weer open voor nieuwe afspraken.

Helaas is met ingang van 19 december 2021 de jaxpix portretfotografie studio weer gesloten. Volgens de meest recente coronamaatregelen zijn alle niet-medische contactberoepen verboden en moet mijn studio dus dicht. Vooralsnog geldt deze lockdown maatregel tot en met 14 januari 2022. Zodra de studio weer open kan, dan geef ik een seintje. Er kunnen dan weer nieuwe afspraken gemaakt worden.

De online verkoop van kunstwerken gaat gewoon door. Dit kan 'virtueel' worden geregeld. De werken kunnen online worden gereserveerd. Neem een kijkje in de online bloemenwinkel .

Especially for my New Year's greeting card I made Neoclassic , a flower still life that fits in my project Preserved full of flower still lifes made from second-hand materials. Neoclassic started with the discovery of the vase in a thrift shop in Delft. In my view, the vase hinted at Greek classical examples. With this basic idea, a winter flower still life in warm chocolate tones quickly formed in the studio. It is for sale in the online flower shop .

Speciaal voor mijn nieuwjaars wenskaart maakte ik Neoclassic , een bloemstilleven passend in mijn project Preserved vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen. Neoclassic startte met de vondst van de vaas in een Delftse kringsloopwinkel. In mijn ogen hintte de vaas naar Griekse klassieke voorbeelden. Met deze basisgedachte vormde zich in de studio al snel een winters bloemstilleven in warme chocoladetinten. Het is te koop in de online bloemenwinkel .

The festival in an extra large edition is scheduled for February 2022. The festival is part of Art Rotterdam Week . Rotterdam Photo is housed in sturdy containers in a beautiful, typical Rotterdam location: the Holland America Square on the 'Kop van Zuid' next to Hotel New York.

Exhibition of Nomads of Sehnsucht at Haagse Kunstkring

The 'Belle Epoque' exhibition is a unique collaboration between the photographers' collective Nomads of Sehnsucht and poets from the Literature Department of the Haagse Kunstkring.

Together they go in search of the atmosphere of the Belle Epoque, the beautiful time at the end of the nineteenth century. A time of prosperity and tranquility, in which art and literature flourished. The Hague writer Louis Couperus is an important exponent of this era. The poets of the Haagse Kunstkring selected and created poems for this exhibition that fit the atmosphere of the Belle Epoque and Couperus' oeuvre.

The photographers of Nomads of Sehnsucht, in turn, made work inspired by the poems. They experiment with the limits of photography, partly out of curiosity about the medium and partly out of a desire to arrive at their own visual language, suitable for depicting indefinable desires – Sehnsucht. The work is made with digital and antique cameras, high-tech or developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. In this way an interesting, associative image of the Belle Epoque has been created, which can be viewed and read. The works of art and poems are presented side by side.

My work for this exhibition is related to 'Antiquair', a poem by poet Hans Frans. For my contribution I made a diptych of related flower still lifes with the titles Fin de Siècle and Belle Epoque, based on the poem by Hans Frans and the theme. The atmosphere from Couperus's books, art movements such as Symbolism and Impressionism, was the breeding ground for memories of my grandfather's antique shop and workshop in Noordeinde, mixed with fragments of childhood spent in the Archipelbuurt in The Hague.
With pleasure I gathered my materials, artificial flowers and props from thrift shops, and composed the still lifes in my studio in Delft! The flower still lifes are part of my project Preserved.

Many thanks go to the poets of Haagse Kunstkring: Corina Engelbrecht, Edith de Gilde, Gerrit Vennema, Hans Franse, Jan Bervoets and Mariet Lems.

Expositie van de Nomads of Sehnsucht bij de Haagse Kunstkring

De expositie ‘Belle Epoque’ is een unieke samenwerking tussen het fotografencollectief Nomads of Sehnsucht en dichters van de afdeling Letteren van de Haagse Kunstkring.

Samen gaan zij op zoek naar de sfeer van de Belle Epoque, de mooie tijd aan het eind van de negentiende eeuw. Een tijd van welvaart en rust, waarin kunst en literatuur bloeiden. De Haagse schrijver Louis Couperus is een belangrijke exponent van deze tijd. De dichters van de Haagse Kunstkring selecteerden en maakten voor deze tentoonstelling gedichten die passen bij de sfeer van de Belle Epoque en het oeuvre van Couperus.

De fotografen van Nomads of Sehnsucht maakten, op hun beurt, werk bij de gedichten. Zij experimenteren met de grenzen van de fotografie, deels uit nieuwsgierigheid naar het medium en deels uit een verlangen om te komen tot een eigen beeldtaal, geschikt om onbestemde verlangens – Sehnsucht - te verbeelden. Het werk is gemaakt met digitale en antieke camera’s, hightech of juist met de hand in de donkere kamer ontwikkeld en afgedrukt. Zo is een interessant, associatief beeld van de Belle Epoque tot stand gekomen, dat bekeken en gelezen kan worden. De kunstwerken en gedichten worden naast elkaar gepresenteerd.

Mijn werk voor deze expositie is gelieerd aan 'Antiquair' , een gedicht van dichter Hans Franse. Voor mijn bijdrage maakte ik met het gedicht van Hans Franse en het thema als uitgangspunt een tweeluik van bij elkaar horende bloemstillevens met de titels Fin de Siècle en Belle Epoque . Voedingsbodem vormden de sfeer uit de boeken van Couperus, kunststromingen zoals het symbolisme en impressionisme, herinneringen aan de antiekwinkel en werkplaats van mijn opa in het Noordeinde, vermengd met flarden jeugd doorgebracht in de Archipelbuurt in Den Haag.

Met plezier heb ik mijn materialen, artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit kringloopwinkels, bij elkaar gezocht en de stillevens gecomponeerd in mijn studio in Delft! De bloemstillevens maken onderdeel uit van mijn project Preserved .

Veel dank gaat uit naar de dichters van de Haagse Kunstkring: Corina Engelbrecht, Edith de Gilde, Gerrit Vennema, Hans Franse, Jan Bervoets en Mariet Lems.

In de Vitrine van Vertoon

In de 'Vitrine van Vertoon' van de Haagse Kunstkring exposeer ik werk dat onderdeel is van mijn Preserved project met bloemstillevens .

Het Preserved project is ontstaan toen ik wat spullen wilde doneren aan de plaatselijke kringloopwinkel. Toen ik daar was, viel mijn oog op een kunstbloem in een vaas. Het viel me toen in dat die bloem een soort tijdmachine op zich is. Een manier om de natuur te 'conserveren'. Als je erover nadenkt, zijn kunstbloemen niets meer dan een fragiele poging van de mens om in plastic en stof het mooiste wat de natuur te bieden heeft te vangen.

Op dit idee bouw ik verder door boeketten te recreëren met kunstbloemen, vazen en props uit kringloopwinkels. Ik vind het fascinerend om alle afzonderlijke bloemen die ooit liefdevol werden gekocht en gebruikt door zoveel verschillende mensen te combineren in één werk. Dit maakt ze op een vreemde manier een beetje menselijk. Om het conserverende karakter van het project te benadrukken, gebruik ik als inspiratiebron bloemstillevens uit perioden in kunst en cultuur.

Helaas is er geen opening mogelijk op 11 december a.s. voor bezoekers. Uiteraard houdt dit verband met de nieuwste coronamaatregelen.

De expositie is gelukkig wel te bezoeken, van 8 december 2021 t/m 30 januari 2022.

In the 'Vitrine van Vertoon' of the Haagse Kunstkring I exhibit work that is part of my Preserved project with flower still lifes .

The Preserved project started when I wanted to donate some stuff to the local thrift store. While I was there, an artificial flower in a vase caught my eye. It occurred to me then that that flower is a kind of time machine in itself. A way to 'conserve' nature. If you think about it, artificial flowers are nothing more than man's fragile attempt to capture in plastic and fabric the most beautiful thing nature has to offer.

I build on this idea by recreating bouquets with artificial flowers, vases and props from thrift stores. I find it fascinating to combine all the individual flowers that were once lovingly bought and used by so many different people in one work. This makes them a little bit human in a strange way. To emphasize the conservational character of the project, I use flower still lifes from periods in art and culture as a source of inspiration.

Unfortunately, there is no opening possible on December 11 for visitors. Of course, this is related to the latest corona measures. Fortunately, the exhibition can be visited from December 8, 2021 to January 30, 2022.

Exposition of the Nomads of Sehnsucht in Rhoon Castle

The 'Nomads of Sehnsucht' collective of photographers will be exhibiting their work in Rhoon Castle from 5 to 26 September. This collective, of which I have been a member since the beginning of 2019, shows in a group exhibition the associations and desires evoked by the concept of 'castle'.

For the exhibition in Rhoon Castle, the Nomads are creating new work that explores the interface between the concepts of 'Sehnsucht' and 'castle'. This mainly concerns the start and end points of stories and suggestions thereof. It is as if from different perspectives castles, fairy tales, history and future come together again. The result will appear both familiar and unknown to the viewer.

I will show work from my Preserved flower still life project. Rhoon Castle has a rich history. Wandering through the rooms, images from a bygone era emerge, which I hope to capture in my flower still lifes with a contemporary twist.

In Rhoon the following Nomads exhibit their work: Annemarie van Buuren, Nicole Hagesteijn, Mark van Hattem, Jacqueline Louter, Mariska Pool, Dieter Provoost (BE), Olga Rook and John de Vos.

Het verlangen en het kasteel

Expositie van de Nomads of Sehnsucht in Kasteel Rhoon

In de expositieruimten van kasteel Rhoon strijkt van 5 tot en met 26 september het fotografencollectief ‘Nomads of Sehnsucht’ neer. Dit collectief, waar ik vanaf begin 2019 lid van ben, toont in een groepsexpositie de associaties en verlangens die opgeroepen worden door het begrip ‘kasteel’.

Voor de expositie in Kasteel Rhoon maken de Nomads nieuw werk, dat het raakvlak onderzoekt tussen de begrippen ‘Sehnsucht’ en ‘kasteel’. Daarbij gaat het vooral om begin- en eindpunten van verhalen en suggesties daarvan. Het is alsof vanuit verschillende perspectieven kastelen, sprookjes, geschiedenis en toekomst weer samenkomen. Het resultaat zal de kijker zowel bekend als onbekend voorkomen.

Ik zal werk tonen uit mijn Preserved project met bloemstillevens. Het kasteel van Rhoon heeft een rijke geschiedenis. Dwalend door de vertrekken komen beelden op uit vervlogen tijden, die ik hoop te vangen in mijn bloemstillevens met een hedendaagse twist.

Art Deco te zien bij Haagse Kunstkring!

Goed nieuws! Een expositie! Tot voor kort een heel normaal iets... nu dankbaar dat het weer kan! In deze groepstentoonstelling met recent werk van kunstenaarsleden van de Haagse Kunstkring toon ik een bloemstilleven uit mijn lopende Project Preserved .

Dit stilleven is geïnspireerd op Art Deco, een kunststroming die ontstond rond 1920. De geometrische figuren en strakke enigszins industriële vormen waren de vernieuwende elementen van deze stijl. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

Good news! An exhibition! Until recently a very normal thing... now grateful that it is possible again! In this group exhibition with recent work by artist members of the Haagse Kunstkring, I show a flower still life from my ongoing Project Preserved.

T his still life is inspired by Art Deco, an art movement that arose around 1920. The geometric figures and sleek, somewhat industrial shapes were the innovative elements of this style. The material consists of found artificial flowers and props from the thrift store.

Rotterdam Photo 2021 cancelled

Rotterdam Photo 2021 has unfortunately been canceled due to the well-known corona measures. The Municipality of Rotterdam has not given permission to organize the event this summer.

The good news is that a new edition is being organised. The next edition of Rotterdam Photo 2022 XL will take place in February 2022. It promises to be a major event with even more participating photographers, international collectors, curators and creatives. I'll keep you informed!

Rotterdam Photo 2021 geannuleerd

Rotterdam Photo 2021 is helaas geannuleerd vanwege de welbekende coronamaatregelen. Gemeente Rotterdam heeft geen toestemming gegeven om het evenement deze zomer te organiseren.

Het goede nieuws is dat er gelukkig een nieuwe editie georganiseerd wordt. De volgende editie van Rotterdam Photo 2022 XL vindt plaats in februari 2022. Het belooft een groots evenement te worden met nog meer deelnemende fotografen, internationale verzamelaars, curatoren en creatieven. Ik hou jullie op de hoogte!

Selected for Publieke Werken

My work Louis Quinze has been selected to be part of the Publieke Werken (Public Works) exhibition, a unique exhibition on outdoor billboards throughout the city of Rotterdam with work by more than 600 visual artists, designers, photographers, illustrators and image makers. The jury consists of Gyonne Goedhoop (TENT), Leana Boven (curator and program maker) and Frank Taal (gallery owner).

Public Works can be seen from 1 July to 1 August 2021.

All selected works will hang together in the pedestrian tunnel of the Maastunnel. The retrospective exhibition in the Maastunnel is a joint initiative of Art Rotterdam and Publieke Werken. In addition, my work can also be seen somewhere in the city of Rotterdam. The exact location where my work will be hung is not yet known at this time.

Mijn werk 'Louis Quinze' is geselecteerd om deel uit te maken van de expositie Publieke Werken , een unieke buitenexpositie op de buitenreclameborden door heel de stad Rotterdam met werk van ruim 600 beeldend kunstenaars, vormgevers, fotografen, illustratoren en beeldmakers. De jury bestaat uit Gyonne Goedhoop (TENT), Leana Boven (curator en programmamaker) en Frank Taal (galeriehouder).

Publieke Werken is te zien van 1 juli tot en met 1 augustus 2021.

Alle geselecteerde werken komen bij elkaar te hangen in de voetgangerstunnel van de Maastunnel. De overzichtstentoonstelling in de Maastunnel is een gezamenlijk initiatief van Art Rotterdam en Publieke Werken. Daarnaast is mijn werk ook ergens in de stad Rotterdam te zien. De exacte locatie waar mijn werk komt te hangen is op dit moment nog niet bekend.

Building a flower still

Have a look behind the scenes! I made this stop-motion film 'Building a flower still' in my studio in Delft at the beginning of March. The construction of the new 'Louis Quinze' still life is depicted 'Flower by flower'.

This sunny still life is based on the Louis Quinze style. The style, named after the French King Louis XV, is characterized by exuberant abundance and asymmetrical elements and exudes airiness and elegance. The work measures 70 x 95 cm and is for sale in an edition of 7 (with certificate of authenticity) in my online flower shop . The buyer of the first copy of the edition will receive the vase in this still life as a gift!

The work is part of the Preserved series, consisting of reconstructions of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The material consists of found artificial flowers and props from the thrift store.

Het bouwen van een bloemstilleven

Een kijkje achter de schermen! Onderstaande stop-motionfilm 'Building a flower still' maakte ik begin maart in mijn atelier in Delft. 'Bloem voor bloem' is de constructie van het nieuwe 'Louis Quinze' stilleven te zien.

Dit zonnige stilleven is gebaseerd op de Louis Quinze stijl. De stijl, genoemd naar de Franse koning Lodewijk XV, kenmerkt zich door uitbundige overvloed en asymmetrische elementen en straalt luchtigheid en elegantie uit. Het werk meet 70 x 95 cm en is in een oplage van 7 (met echtheidscertificaat) te koop in mijn online bloemenwinkel . De koper van de eerste druk uit de oplage ontvangt de vaas in dit stilleven cadeau!

Het werk maakt deel uit van de serie Preserved , bestaande uit reconstructies van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden kunstbloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

"We are pleased to announce that you have been selected for the official program of Rotterdam Photo Festival 2021."

Rotterdam Photo is geprogrammeerd voor de periode 30 juni t/m 4 juli . Het festival is onderdeel van Art Rotterdam Week. Rotterdam Photo is gehuisvest in stoere containers op een fantastische nieuwe locatie in het oude havengebied van Rotterdam aan de Vierhavensstraat 46.

"Is it worth it, or is it pure vanity to want to preserve our creations for eternity?"

Deze vraag uit de call, met als thema Planet Human, nam ik als uitgangspunt voor mijn bijdrage. Preserved , mijn huidige project met recreaties van bloemstillevens uit vervlogen tijden, gemaakt met kunstbloemen uit de kringloopwinkel, sluit prachtig aan.

Je bent van harte welkom om mijn presentatie, in een eigen intieme 10ft container, te komen bekijken!

Inmiddels is de studio weer geopend!

Conform de geldende corona lockdown is met ingang van 15 december 2020 de portretfotografie studio gesloten. De agenda voor het maken van portretfoto's is leeggemaakt. Gelukkig konden bestaande afspraken worden uitgesteld. Zodra de studio weer open kan, dan geef ik een seintje. Er kunnen dan weer nieuwe afspraken gemaakt worden.

De online verkoop van kunstwerken gaat gewoon door. Dit kan 'virtueel' worden geregeld. De werken kunnen online worden gereserveerd. Neem een kijkje in de online bloemenwinkel

Portrait photography closed

In the meantime, the studio has reopened!

In accordance with the applicable corona lockdown, the portrait photography studio will be closed as of December 15, 2020. The agenda for taking portrait photos has been cleared. Fortunately, existing agreements could be postponed. I'll let you know as soon as the studio can open again. New reservations can then be made.

The online sale of artworks continues as usual. This can be arranged 'virtually'. The works can be reserved online. Take a look at my online flower shop .

Speciaal voor mijn nieuwjaars wenskaart maakte ik Touch of Zen , een bloemstilleven passend in mijn project Preserved vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen uit kringloopwinkels. Touch of Zen heeft het Japanse Ikebana als inspiratiebron.

Sehnsucht bij RAR

Deze expositie is helaas door de verlengde corona-lockdown gesloten.

Het fotografencollectief 'Nomads of Sehnsucht', waar ik lid van ben, strijkt neer in de galerie van Regio Art Rijnmond (RAR) in Spijkenisse. De ‘Nomads of Sehnsucht’ is een collectief van fotografische kunstenaars dat op verschillende plaatsen in wisselende samenstellingen door het land te zien is. In de galerie van kunstenaarsvereniging RAR exposeren Sehnsucht-leden: Annemarie van Buuren, Nicole Hagesteijn, Mark van Hattem, Jacqueline Louter, Mariska Pool, Dieter Provoost (BE), Olga Rook en John de Vos.

De leden van de ‘Nomads of Sehnsucht’ experimenteren met de grenzen van de fotografie uit nieuwsgierigheid naar het medium en een verlangen om te komen tot een uitdagende, deels nieuwe en deels traditionele beeldtaal. Wat is of was fotografie eigenlijk, welke kant beweegt de fotografie als kunstvorm op? Er zijn leden die experimenteren met oude, analoge fotografie technieken die op een moderne wijze worden toegepast, en er zijn ook leden die moderne digitale technieken gebruiken om je terug te nemen naar nostalgische tijden of volledige droomwerelden; en waarom zou een foto altijd plat zijn en een fotograaf niet werken met ruimte? Centraal staat altijd het verlangen, het zoeken naar 'we-weten-niet-wat'. Het resultaat zal de kijker zowel bekend als onbekend voorkomen.

Unfortunately, this exhibition is now closed due to the corona-lockdown.

The photographers collective 'Nomads of Sehnsucht', of which I am a member, settles in the gallery of Regio Art Rijnmond (RAR) in Spijkenisse. The "Nomads of Sehnsucht" is a collective of photographic artists that can be seen in varying compositions throughout the country in various places. In the gallery of artists' association RAR, these Sehnsucht members exhibit: Annemarie van Buuren, Nicole Hagesteijn, Mark van Hattem, Jacqueline Louter, Mariska Pool, Dieter Provoost (BE), Olga Rook and John de Vos.

The members of the "Nomads of Sehnsucht" experiment with the boundaries of photography out of curiosity about the medium and a desire to arrive at a challenging, partly new and partly traditional visual language. What is or was photography actually? In which direction is photography moving as an art form? There are members who experiment with old, analogue photography techniques applied in a modern way, and there are also members who use modern digital techniques to take you back to nostalgic times or dream worlds; and why would a photo always be flat and a photographer wouldn't work with space? Central is always the desire, the search for 'we-don't-know-what'. The result will appear both familiar and unknown to the viewer.

Barok

My latest work 'Barok' is inspired by the work of two female Dutch painters from the seventeenth century: Maria van Oosterwijck and Rachel Ruysch. Both took up a special position as women in a profession that was mainly practiced by men. Maria van Oosterwijck, from Nootdorp, set up her first studio on the Voorstraat in Delft. Later she left for Amsterdam, where she started working as an assistant to the still life painter Willem van Aelst. Rachel Ruysch, born in The Hague, also followed her training in this studio in Amsterdam.

Baroque is part of a series of flower still lifes, an ongoing project called Preserved , which I started in early 2018. The source of inspiration are still lifes from different style periods in art and culture. The material consists of found artificial flowers, vases and props from the thrift store.

Practical information: dimensions 80 cm x 100 cm, price 750.00 euros including 9% VAT. The edition consists of 7 prints. I deliver the work with a certificate of authenticity. The print is on dibond with a thickness of 4 mm and a matt lacquer finish, of course with a hanging system so that the work can be installed immediately.

'Schilderessen van veld- en bloemgewas'

Mijn nieuwste werk 'Barok' is geïnspireerd op het werk van twee vrouwelijke Hollandse kunstschilders uit de zeventiende eeuw: Maria van Oosterwijck en Rachel Ruysch. Beiden namen een bijzondere positie in als vrouw in een beroep dat verder vooral door mannen werd uitgeoefend. Maria van Oosterwijck, afkomstig uit Nootdorp, richtte haar eerste atelier in aan de Voorstraat in Delft. Later vertrok zij naar Amsterdam, waar zij als assistente van de stilllevenschilder Willem van Aelst ging werken. Ook Rachel Ruysch, geboren in Den Haag, volgde in dit atelier in Amsterdam haar opleiding.

Barok maakt deel uit van een serie bloemstillevens, een lopend project met de naam Preserved , dat ik startte begin 2018. Inspiratiebron zijn stillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst en cultuur. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden artificiële bloemen, vazen en props uit de kringloopwinkel.

Praktische informatie: afmetingen 80 cm x 100 cm, prijs 750,00 euro inclusief 9% BTW. De oplage bedraagt 7. Ik lever het werk met een echtheidscertificaat. De print is op dibond met een dikte van 4 mm en een matte lakfinish, uiteraard met een ophangsysteem zodat het werk meteen opgehangen kan worden.

Tribute to Jan

My new summer work 'Ode to Jan' is inspired by the work of Dutch interior designer Jan des Bouvrie. His 'white interiors' were groundbreaking in the 1970s. This preference for white is of course reflected in 'Ode to Jan'. It is also loosely based on Des Bouvrie' use of simple rounded shapes. He says about this: "round shapes immediately have a warm and human character".

Ode to Jan is part of a series of flower still lifes, an ongoing project called Preserved , which I started in early 2018. The source of inspiration is still lifes from different style periods in art and culture. The material consists of found artificial flowers, vases and props from the thrift store.

The 'Greetings from Delft' exhibition at the Arti-Shock gallery in Rijswijk - by artists of the Delft collective Vereniging Bacinol, of which I am also a part - was planned for April 19 to May 18, 2020. The COVID_19 virus forced us to shift to early 2021.
Although ... it was not necessary to move all the way through! We made this virtual exhibition , with a selection of the work that will be shown during the physical exhibition in Arti-Shock in early 2021.

Kadmium Delft

The annual spring salon at Kadmium Delft was also canceled due to the closure of presentation institutions in connection with corona measures.

De expositie ‘Groeten uit Delft’ bij galerie Arti-Shock in Rijswijk - van kunstenaars van het Delftse collectief Vereniging Bacinol, waar ik ook deel van uitmaak - was gepland voor 19 april tot 18 mei 2020. Het COVID_19 virus noopte ons om de expositie door te schuiven naar begin 2021.

Alhoewel... helemaal doorschuiven bleek toch niet nodig! Wij maakten deze virtuele expositie , met een selectie van het werk dat begin 2021 tijdens de fysieke expositie in Arti-Shock te zien zal zijn.

Kadmium Delft

Ook de jaarlijkse lentesalon bij Kadmium Delft kon vanwege de sluiting van presentatie-instellingen in verband met de geldende coronamaatregelen.geen doorgang vinden.

Al het moois van deze groepsexpositie is gelukkig wel online te bewonderen in een virtuele lentesalon !

In the past few weeks I have made a number of new works. I premiere Meissen now! The work Meissen is inspired by the Louis Quinze period and the delicate porcelain flowers that were manufactured in the famous Meißner Porzellan workshops.

Rotterdam Photo Festival 2020

From 6 to 9 February 2020 , during Art Rotterdam Week, the annual photo festival Rotterdam Photo will rise in the form of a container village on Deliplein in Rotterdam. The festival offers presentations by independent photographers, photo collectives and organizations. The venue is at Katendrecht's central square, within walking distance of the Nederlands Fotomuseum and Haute Photographie. The theme of Rotterdam Photo for the year 2020 is Transitions.

I participate in the festival as part of the Sehnsucht Nomads Gallery, together with Sehnsucht members Dieter Provoost, Helma Vlemmings and Mark van Hattem. Galerie Sehnsucht is a roaming gallery without a permanent place. Started in the iconic Hofbogen in Rotterdam on Vijverhofstraat, the gallery now travels through the country with an enthusiastic group of photographers. Gallery Sehnsucht 'pops up' at exciting locations with great photography such as Rotterdam Photo. More information about us can be found on the website: galeriesehnsucht.com .

I will be present on all days of the festival. See shedule below for the exact times. I show a number of works from my Preserved project . From the registration:

Van 6 tot en met 9 februari 2020 , tijdens de Art Rotterdam Week, verrijst het jaarlijkse fotofestival Rotterdam Photo in de vorm van een containerdorp op het Deliplein in Rotterdam. Het festival biedt presentaties van onafhankelijke fotografen, fotocollectieven en organisaties. Plaats van handeling is het centrale plein van Katendrecht, op loopafstand van het Nederlands Fotomuseum en Haute Photographie. Het thema van Rotterdam Photo voor het jaar 2020 is Transitions.

White Work

Who knows, in January, King Winter will turn the world white in January? It will not be the Haagse Kunstkring! In the January month, the Hoge Zaal is given a white appearance by an exhibition in which members participate with ... 'white work'.

I show my flower still life Delft White. This still life in off-white shades and winter pastels is based on a jug (in the style of) 'Delft White' found in a thrift store in Delft. Sources of inspiration for the flower still life were the 17th century painter Balthasar van der Ast, who lived in Delft for the last 25 years of his life, and the famous 'witjes' of the painter Jacob de Wit, playing puttis, painted pastel white on pastel white. The work is part of the Preserved project : flower still lifes from various style periods made from artificial flowers and props from thrift stores.

Wit Werk

Wie weet tovert Koning Winter de wereld in januari wit? Aan de Haagse Kunstkring zal het niet liggen! In de januarimaand krijgt de Hoge Zaal een wit aanzien door een expositie waaraan leden deelnemen met... 'wit werk'.

Ik toon er mijn bloemstilleven Delft White. Dit stilleven in off-white tinten en winterpastels heeft als basis een kan (in de stijl van) 'Delfts Wit' gevonden in een Delftse kringloopwinkel. Inspiratiebronnen voor het bloemstilleven waren de 17de eeuwse schilder Balthasar van der Ast, die de laatste 25 jaar van zijn leven in Delft woonde, en de fameuze 'witjes' van de schilder Jacob de Wit, spelende putti's, pastelwit op pastelwit geschilderd. Het werk maakt onderdeel uit van het project Preserved : bloemstillevens uit diverse stijlperiodes gemaakt van artificiële bloemen en props uit kringloopwinkels.

“The whole universe is contained in a single flower”

Especially for my end-of-year greeting card I made Redonné, a flower still life in 'Christmas atmospheres' with a white rose as the centerpiece, fitting in with the PRESERVED project full of flower still lifes made from second-hand materials from thrift stores. The work is loosely based on work by Odilon Redon, French painter in the movement of Symbolism.

2019 is coming to an end. I think of all exhibitions, assignments and beautiful moments that I am grateful for!

Speciaal voor mijn eindejaars wenskaart maakte ik Redonné, een bloemstilleven in 'kerstsferen' met als stralend middelpunt een witte roos, passend in het project PRESERVED vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen uit kringloopwinkels. Het werk is losjes gebaseerd op werk van Odilon Redon, Frans kunstschilder in de stroming van het Symbolisme.

2019 loopt ten einde. Ik denk aan alle exposities, opdrachten en mooie momenten waar ik dankbaar voor ben!
2020 staat voor de deur. Ik verheug me op het nieuwe werk dat ik wil gaan maken en wens jullie een prachtig nieuw jaar vol geluk en heel veel kunst ♥

Open Monuments Day Delft 2019

Open Monumentendag Delft 2019 will take place on 14 & 15 September. Bacinol, the building where the jaxpix studio is located, is freely accessible to the public on those days. The building houses the world-famous stained glass windows of 'De Stijl' artist Vilmos Huszár. There is plenty to do in the building, such as guided tours, music performances and exhibitions.

The jaxpix studio is of course also open! I have a special presentation with new flower still lifes from the Project Preserved. In addition, there is the great Art Wall in the Salon of Huszar with 17 flower still lifes by me ;-)

Op 14 & 15 september vindt Open Monumentendag Delft 2019 plaats. Bacinol, het gebouw waar de jaxpix studio is gevestigd, is op die dagen vrij toegankelijk voor publiek. Het gebouw herbergt de wereldberoemde glas-in-lood ramen van 'De Stijl' kunstenaar Vilmos Huszár. Er is van alles te doen in het gebouw, zoals rondleidingen, muziekoptredens en exposities.

De jaxpix studio is natuurlijk ook open! Ik heb een speciale presentatie met nieuwe bloemstillevens uit het Project Preserved . Daarnaast is er de geweldige Kunstmuur in de Salon van Huszar met 17 bloemstillevens van mijn hand ;-)

During the 24th Delft Atelier Route I open the studio doors on Sunday 8 September. I will furnish the studio with a presentation where a number of new flower still lifes from the Project Preserved will be on display and for sale. Furthermore, it is also possible to book a portrait photo shoot.

In the Salon of Huszar you can of course see the presentation of no fewer than 17 flower still lifes at the "Art Wall'!

Delftse Atelierroute 2019

Tijdens de 24ste Delftse Atelierroute open ik de studiodeuren op zondag 8 september . Ik zal de studio inrichten met een presentatie waar een aantal nieuwe bloemstillevens uit het Project Preserved te zien en te koop zullen zijn. Voorts is het ook mogelijk om een portretfotoshoot te boeken.

In de Salon van Huszar is uiteraard de presentatie van maar liefst 17 bloemstillevens te zien op De Kunstmuur!

First Bacinol art exhibition

The artists' group of Bacinol Delft that I am part of has a scoop! We will exhibit together for the first time in September. We venture outside of Delft for that! In the library of Rijswijk I exhibit together with Ellen Rijsdorp, Roos Wisse, Rob van Es and Joost Konings.

Our Bacinol Association has eight artists, five of whom participate in this exhibition. We all make very different work. Together we form an initiative-rich real Delft club. We come together in the workshops and inspire each other. It is also special that we regularly give creative workshops in our beautiful Bacinol building. Expo Delftse Bacinollers in Rijswijk

De kunstenaarsgroep van Bacinol waar ik onderdeel van uitmaak heeft een primeur! We zullen in september voor het eerst gezamenlijk exposeren. Daarvoor wagen we ons buiten Delft! In de bibliotheek van Rijswijk exposeer ik samen met Ellen Rijsdorp, Roos Wisse, Rob van Es en Joost Konings.

Onze Vereniging Bacinol telt acht kunstenaars , waarvan er dus vijf meedoen aan deze expositie. We maken allemaal heel verschillend werk. Samen vormen we een initiatiefrijke echt Delftse club. We komen bij elkaar in de ateliers en inspireren elkaar. Bijzonder is ook dat we regelmatig in ons prachtige Bacinol gebouw creatieve workshops geven. Kadmium Fall | Expressionismus

At the autumn exhibition of artists' association Kadmium Delft I show a new flower still life with the title 'Expressionismus' . The work is part of my Project Preserved . The source of inspiration in this project are still lifes from different style periods in art and culture. This flower still life is based on Expressionism and in particular on the famous flower still lifes of Jan Sluijters. The material in this work also consists of artificial flowers and props from the thrift store with a certain autumnal atmosphere. The work is for sale in a limited edition of 7.

You are very welcome to come and see the work up close in large format & raise the glass at the festive opening.

Kadmium herfst | Expressionismus

Op de herfstexpositie van Kadmium toon ik een nieuw bloemstilleven met de titel ' Expressionismus' . Het werk is onderdeel van mijn Project Preserved . Inspiratiebron in dit project zijn stillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst en cultuur. Dit bloemstilleven is gebasseerd op het Expressionisme en in het bijzonder op de bloemstillevens van Jan Sluijters. Het materiaal bestaat ook in dit werk uit artificiële bloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel met een zekere herfstige sfeer.

Je bent van harte welkom het werk van dichtbij op groot formaat te komen bekijken & het glas te heffen op de feestelijke opening.

Nomads of Sehnsucht | Gallery Crawl

The first exhibition of the 'Nomads' of Galerie Sehnsucht, of which I am also a part, is a fact.

Galerie Sehnsucht started in the Rotterdam Hofbogen on Vijverhofstraat and is now touring the country with an enthusiastic group of photographers. Sehnsucht Gallery 'pops up' at happenings, in vacant buildings and exciting locations with great photography, special workshops and small events.

The Nomads or Sehnsucht are photographers and image makers Nicole Hagesteijn, Mark van Hattem, Jacqueline Louter, Mariska Pool, Dieter Provoost, Olga Rook, Leander Varekamp, Helma Vlemmings and John de Vos.

On August 31 we participate in the Gallery Crawl in the Oude Noorden in Rotterdam. Gallery crawl is an art route with a program of visual arts, design, performances and artist talks. Nomads or Galerie Sehnsucht can be found in a pop-up gallery at Zwaanshals 470 in Rotterdam.

In addition to the Nomads of Sehnsucht, the following galleries are taking part: Gallery Untitled, Assembled by Root, Psynapse gallery, Rotterdam Salon, Studio de Bakkerij, We are Now, Gallery PUUR & AAA Gallery.

For this exhibition I made a new Preserved flower still life 'Back to the future ', in keeping with our common nomad style, in black-and-white that is not really black-and-white and printed on paper!

De eerste expositie van de 'Nomaden' van Galerie Sehnsucht, waar ik ook deel van uitmaak, is een feit.

Galerie Sehnsucht begon in de oer-Rotterdamse Hofbogen aan de Vijverhofstraat en trekt nu met een enthousiaste fotografengroep door het land. Galerie Sehnsucht ‘popt up’ op happenings, in leegstaande panden en spannende locaties met geweldige fotografie, speciale workshops en kleine evenementen.

Salon Huszár - Art Wall

In the Bacinol building, where I have my studio, a brand new multifunctional space has been created: the Salon of Huszár. This is an extension of the famous Delft Brasserie Huszar. I will be the first of the Bacinol artists to exhibit at the more than six meter wide 'Kunstmuur' in the Salon.

Delft alderman Bas Vollebregt is opening the Huszár Salon and my solo exhibition at De Kunstmuur.

New work

No less than six new flower still lifes can be seen that I made as part of my Project Preserved . The latest additions are situated mainly in the early 20th century, with sources of inspiration such as Art Deco, Jugendstil, Fauvisme and works by Jan Sluijters and Gaugain. Together with the existing work, a wall full of flowers can now be seen.

Salon Huszár - De Kunstmuur

In het Bacinol gebouw, waar ik mijn studio/atelier heb, is een fonkelnieuwe multifunctionele ruimte gereed gekomen: de Salon van Huszár . Dit is een uitbreiding van de bekende Delftse Brasserie Huszar. Op de in de Salon aanwezige ruim zes meter brede 'Kunstmuur' zal ik als eerste van de Bacinol-kunstenaars exposeren.

Delftse wethouder Bas Vollebregt verricht de opening van de Salon van Huszár en van mijn solo expositie op De Kunstmuur .

Nieuw werk
Er zijn maar liefst zes nieuwe bloemstillevens te zien die ik heb gemaakt in het kader van mijn Project Preserved . De laatste toevoegingen zetelen vooral in de vroege 20ste eeuw, met als inspiratiebronnen kunststromingen zoals Art Deco, Jugendstil, Fauvisme en werken van Jan Sluijters en Gaugain. Samen met het bestaande werk is nu een wand vol bloemen te zien �� Kom kijken, je bent van harte welkom!!

From Brueghel to Bommel

From Brueghel to Bommel is an art exhibition with a story behind it. For my contribution to this exhibition, the work Delft Blue , I was inspired by a flower still life from the fluwelen (Velvet) Brueghel, Jan Brueghel the Elder, the son of Pieter Brueghel the Elder.

Delft Blue is part of Project Preserved , a series of recreations of flower still lifes from different style periods in art. The material consists of found artificial flowers and props from the thrift store.

“My floral arrangements are only for a few moments and then they are gone again - which is interesting in and of itself. Our time is limited - it's the only luxury that we can't buy. It's a theme that other artists are working with as well at the moment. I guess I've given it my own twist. " From Interview Interiorator .

Van Brueghel tot Bommel is een expositie met kunst waar een verhaal achter zit. Voor mijn bijdrage aan deze expositie, het werk Delft Blue , heb ik mij laten inspireren door een bloemstilleven van de Fluwelen Brueghel, Jan Brueghel de Oude, de zoon van Pieter Brueghel de Oude.

Delft Blue is onderdeel van Project Preserved , een serie recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes in de kunst. Het materiaal bestaat uit gevonden artificiëlebloemen en rekwisieten uit de kringloopwinkel.

Kunstmarkt tijdens Delftse Hortusdag

Op 26 mei van 10.00-17.00 uur is dit jaar de Delftse Hortusdag. Dit jaarlijks terugkerende event wordt georganiseerd door Botanische Tuin TU Delft . Er is van alles te beleven: opening van de zomertentoonstelling, diverse activiteiten, rondleidingen, kramen met presentaties van natuurorganisaties en kramen waar planten en gerelateerde producten te koop zijn.

Dit jaar is er een spannende primeur voor de tuin, voor Delft en voor jaxpix! In het achterste en meest zonnige gedeelte van de tuin zal een Botanische Kunstmarkt plaatsvinden. Een kunstmarkt waar op planten geïnspireerde kunstwerken getoond en gekocht kunnen worden. Ook ik ben op deze nieuwe Botanische Kunstmarkt te vinden. Ik nodig je van harte uit om de prachtige tuin te komen bezoeken en een kijkje bij de jaxpix kunstkraam te komen nemen!

Van 28 maart tot en met 28 april opent in Delft popup store De Tulpenwinkel! Dit is een initiatief van Flora Delfensis. In deze tijdelijke winkel kun je terecht voor leuke tulpencadeaus. Het is het start- en informatiepunt van de Delftse Tulpenroute .

Ik zal er mijn zeer toepasselijke werk Delft Blue tonen. Het is er te koop! Ook heb ik mooie ansichtkaarten van het werk laten drukken die eveneens in De Tulpenwinkel verkocht worden. De koffie van Miss Morrison - de bekende koffiebranderij uit Delft - staat klaar!

Art market during Delft Hortus Day

This year Delft Hortus Day takes place on 26 May from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm . This annual event is organized by the TU Delft Botanical Garden . There is a lot to experience: opening of the summer exhibition, various activities, guided tours, stalls with presentations from nature organizations and market stalls where plants and related products can be purchased.

This year there is an exciting scoop for the garden, for Delft and for jaxpix! A Botanical Art Market will take place in the rear and sunniest part of the garden. An art market where inspired works of art are displayed and sold. I can also be found at this new Botanical Art Market. Delft Blue for sale in Tulip Shop Delft

From March 28 to April 28, De Tulpenwinkel opens in Delft popup store! This is an initiative of Flora Delfensis. In this temporary store you can find nice tulip gifts. It is the starting and information point of the Delft Tulip Route. I will show my very appropriate work Delft Blue. It is for sale! I also had beautiful postcards printed from the work that are also sold in De Tulpenwinkel. The coffee of Miss Morrison - the famous coffee roasting plant from Delft - is ready!

Georganiseerd door de Rijswijkse Schouwburg

De Rijswijkse Schouwburg organiseert Kunst achter het raam. In hele maand maart zijn er kunstwerken te zien van kunstenaars in de etalages van 30 winkels in Oud Rijswijk. Ook wordt een culturele zaterdag georganiseerd op 23 maart met kunst workshops. Ik nodig jullie van harte uit om te komen kijken!

Ik toon 2 bloemstillevens bij De Blomster Bloembinders in Rijswijk. Heel toepasselijk dus! De bloemstillevens maken deel uit van PRESERVED. In dit lopende project maak ik recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes met gevonden artificiële tweedehands bloemen en materialen uit kringloopwinkels.

Speciaal voor mijn eindejaars wenskaart maakte ik Noël Royal , een bloemstilleven in 'kerstsferen', passend in het project PRESERVED vol bloemstillevens gemaakt van tweedehands materialen uit kringloopwinkels.

Zo helder, helderder
dan water is de lucht
doorzichtig stil
te dun om te trillen
en helemaal nieuw
nog niets er in
geen stof geen vocht
geen rimpel
overal smelt het
zwelt het glimt het
nu gaan de dingen
weer beginnen

Het bloemstilleven Delft White staat op de cover van BLAUWW, het stadsmagazine van Delft! Trots dat mijn bloemstilleven de omslag siert van dit bijzondere blad dat 2 keer per jaar verschijnt.

Het werk Delft White is onderdeel van mijn project Preserved dat ik begin 2018 startte. In dit lopende project maak ik recreaties van bloemstillevens uit verschillende stijlperiodes met gevonden artificiële tweedehands bloemen en materialen uit kringloopwinkels. Dit stilleven in winterpastels heeft als basis een kan (in de stijl van) 'Delfts Wit' gevonden in een Delftse kringloopwinkel. Naast Delfts Blauw, heeft er ook altijd Delfts Wit aardewerk bestaan. Inspiratiebronnen voor het bloemstilleven waren de 17de eeuwse schilder Balthasar van der Ast, die de laatste 25 jaar van zijn leven in Delft woonde, en de fameuze 'witjes' van de schilder Jacob de Wit, spelende putti's, pastelwit op pastelwit geschilderd.

Winterreise

Galerie Sehnsucht presenteert tijdens de eerste donkere wintermaanden een expositie met het poëtische thema 'Winterreise'. Ik toon een nieuw bloemstilleven in winterse pasteltinten. Het werk Delft White is onderdeel van mijn project Preserved dat ik begin 2018 startte. Open studio!

Tijdens de 23ste Delftse Atelierroute opent jaxpix de studiodeuren tijdens het weekend van 29 en 30 september 2018 van 12.00-17.00 uur. De studio is gevestigd in het Bacinol gebouw , Hooikade 13, 2627 AB Delft.

Jacqueline Louter richt de studio in met een speciale presentatie met de bloemstillevens uit het project Preserved.
