Natura Morta

From August 20, Pulchri Studio presents a new collection of small artworks (maximum 30 x 30 cm). Feel free to drop by if you are in the neighborhood. Unique to this Small Format exhibition: after purchase, the work can be taken off the wall immediately and taken home right away. Perfect as a unique gift, or as a spontaneous addition for yourself.

Fully inspired by my visit to the Museo Morandi in Bologna this spring, I created – for this Small Format exhibition – my new work Natura Morta, with a nod to the iconic oeuvre of Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964). This Italian artist became famous for his recognizable, serene still lifes in which objects were arranged just slightly differently each time. The subtle interplay of form, composition, and the tranquility exuded by his paintings form the starting point for this work.

Natura Morta is part of my ongoing series Preserved. In this project, I create floral still lifes from various style periods in art and culture using used materials sourced from thrift stores.

The work is also available in the Pulchri Studio webshop in a limited edition of 7 pieces.
