E xhibition Textile as a Language starts on July 4th at Pulchri Studio . From the exhibition text: "Textile is more than a material. It is one of the oldest forms of human expression: a carrier of stories, memories, identity, and meaning. Whether textile functions for you as a physical medium such as canvas, thread, or fabric, or as a conceptual layer with a deeper meaning: all approaches are welcome. I am participating with the work In the Wings . In this work, a semi-transparent textile layer plays a central role as a transparent image carrier, which simultaneously creates an in-between space. I refer to theatrical elements such as the stage, the façade, the scenery, and the wings. The work consists of two seemingly similar i mage s: while one approaches the scene frontally, the other offers a glimpse behind the scenes. Through the textile layer, visual elements shift and overlap, creating an interplay between visible and hidden laye rs. Opening: July 4 Period: July 4 to July 26, 2026 Address: Pulchri Studio, Lange Voorhout 15, 2514 EA The Hague Information: pulchri.nl

This new floral still life references the 'glam & spectacle culture' of the late 20th-century funk scene — a “glitterfunk” aesthetic with elements of neo-pop art and postmodernism. The deep pink-purple, the bright yellow flower, and the shiny vase combine to create a visual dynamic that resonates with the flamboyant stage language of funk artists such as Rick James, Funkadelic, Bootsy, and Cameo. Floral still life Funky Flower is part of Project Preserved . In this project, I create still lifes from various style periods in art and culture using used materials sourced from thrift stores. Funky Flower will be on display at Pulchri Studio starting May 21 in the exhibition 'Klein Formaat'. Works in this exhibition measure a maximum of 30 x 30 cm, are surprisingly affordable, and can be taken home immediately after purchase. Ideal as a gift or for finding a beautiful spot in your own living or working environment the very same day. Funky Flower is also for sale in the Pulchri Studio webshop . Feel free to stop by and take a look if you are in the area! Period: May 21 to August 18, 2026 Address: Lange Voorhout 15, 2514 EA The Hague Information: pulchri.nl

New floral still life!
by Jacqueline Louter 31 December 2025
A changing collection of small works is continuously for sale in the display case at the entrance to the Hague Art Circle. If you see something you like, you can take it home immediately after purchase. Feel free to take a look if you're in the area. This winter, I'm participating with a flower still life "Tulip in a Vase with Butterfly" (30 x 30 cm). For this piece, I drew inspiration from a painting by Balthasar van der Ast. Its effective simplicity appealed to me: a small vase with one single, graceful tulip. Period: 7 January to 30 March 2026 Address: Denneweg 64, 2514 CJ The Hague Information: haagsekunstkring.nl

The new exhibition year at the Haagse Kunstkring artists' association kicks off on Saturday, January 10th at 4:00 PM. Under the title ' New' an exhibition will open featuring a wide selection of recent work by 106 artists. The exhibition will be on display in all exhibition spaces of our building on the lively Denneweg in The Hague. I'm exhibiting a floral still life inspired by the work of 17th-century artist Clara Peeters. Her refined, symbolic floral arrangements inspired me to create my own still life with subtle references. The work features a grasshopper, an insect that symbolized unpredictability and the transience of life in paintings of that period. The work references the rich Baroque painting tradition, in which small details often carry deeper meanings and express the fleeting nature of beauty. Flowers in a Vase with Grasshopper is part of my ongoing project Preserved , which consists of recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods. The material consists entirely of artificial flowers and props from thrift stores. The Artist Is Seen" On Sunday, January 18th at 3:00 PM Paul de Mol will lead a discussion about the exhibition with visitors and artists. Admission is free. Opening & New Year's reception: Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 4:00 PM Period: January 7 to February 1, 2026. Address: Denneweg 64, The Hague. Information: haagsekunstkring.nl & jaxpix.nl

Pulchri Studio's hall features an ongoing exhibition featuring only small-format works. This concept allows you to take a piece home immediately after purchase, making it an ideal spontaneous art gift. I've enjoyed participating in this exhibition several times. This time, I'm exhibiting Balancing Act , a still life with an alienating touch, reminiscent of Magritte's surrealism and the geometric playfulness of the Memphis Group. The work is part of the Preserved series, which consists of recreations of floral still lifes from various stylistic periods in art history. In this series, I use only materials, such as artificial flowers and vases, found in thrift stores. Balancing Act is also available for purchase in Pulchri Studio's webshop in an edition of 7 . Date: November 18, 2025, to February 15, 2026. Address: Lange Voorhout 15, 2514 EA The Hague. Information: pulchri.nl
